Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a super fun Thanksgiving card with a whole lot of copper! Not only is there Copper Trim, Copper Foil Sheet, Copper Embossing, but Celestial Copper Metallic ink! I just love the new copper metallic ink and I will show you how I used this ink pad three different ways to create this WOW card!!
The base layer is Sahara Sand cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder. To “color” the trees with the copper ink, I found it easiest to simply lightly pat the paper with the ink pad. This way the embossed cardstock will pick up the ink to accentuate the trees, where as “dragging the pad” may leave some lines from the ink pad and inking up the embossing folder works if you want to use the debossed side and is a little bit messy. TIP-Use your heat tool to speed up the drying process:
For the card front:
1. Stamp the large leaf in copper ink on a piece of Merry Merlot and Mossy Meadow cardstock, cut out with the coordinating die.
2. Use enough Copper Trim to tie into a bow around the bottom of the base layer.
3. Use the circle die from the Stitched Labels Dies to cut from a piece of Copper Foil and heat emboss the sentiment in Copper Emboss Powder. Stamping the sentiment in copper ink did not show up very well, that is why I heat embossed it.
4. Ink all three of the emboss/die cut dies with copper ink, I just pressed the die onto the ink pad and used my scissors to pick them up at the leaf stem. Spritz Mossy Meadow, Merry Merlot, and Crushed Curry cardstock with water before cutting/embossing with the die. TIP-Make sure the wet side of the cardstock is the backside and use your heat tool to speed up the metallic ink process:
Adhere the two big leaves first, the two of the small leaves, and then the smallest leaf is in the front:
The embossed sentiment piece is adhered with dimensionals and tie the Copper Trim around the bottom into a bow:
This completed piece is adhered to a Merry Merlot cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside sentiment, cut at piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the wheat stamp first generation one time and second generation (or stamping off one time) twice, one on each side of the middle stamped image, and stamp the sentiment in the middle in Merry Merlot ink:
Isn’t this an awesome card?? We all know how to stamp the inked image to paper and how to add ink to our embossed cardstock, but how about inking up your die before cutting?? I just love how the leaves turned out and you can easily clean the die with a baby wipe! If you want to make multiples of this card, you can easily cut/emboss two of the leaves before you would have to re-ink the die!!
