Birthday Bonanza DSP-not just for birthdays!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun congratulations card featuring the Sending You Thoughts stamp set and Birthday Bonanza DSP! The Sending You Thoughts stamp set is from the 2020 Sale-A-Bration Catalog that you can earn for FREE with a $50 product purchase! I will admit that at first glance this stamp set did not make my list for SAB products, but after I went back and really looked at the catalog, this stamp set was a must for me! It comes with 9 different sentiments and you can mix and match some of them, depending on the card you are creating. So, I thought pairing this with one of the designs from the Birthday Bonanza DSP to make a fun card!

The base layer is this design from the DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

For the card front, you will need:

1. Use the 1” Circle Punch to punch out one each of Mango Melody, Terracotta Tile, and Bermuda Bay cardstock to create a “balloon”.

2. Use the 1 1/8” Scallop Circle Punch to punch out one each of Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, and Coastal Cabana cardstock to create a “balloon”.

3. Cut six 3” pieces of Whisper White Baker’s Twine.

4. Make three bows using the Whisper White Baker’s Twine.

5. Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock in Bermuda Bay ink, cut out with the third smallest Layering Oval Die and use the second largest oval Stitched Shapes Die to cut out of Coastal Cabana cardstock to layer under the sentiment.

To assemble the card front, use liquid glue to adhere the baker’s twine to the back of the balloons, a bow to the Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, and Terracotta Tile balloons and set aside a moment to dry. After drying, position the balloons as shown on the DSP base layer, two scallops with one regular circle and two regular circles with one scallop, adhere the two balloons that are behind with adhesive and the front balloon with a dimensional:

Adhere the layered sentiment to the DSP base layer with dimensionals and then this completed piece is adhered to a Coastal Cabana cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink and adhere a strip of DSP along the bottom:

Don’t you just love this card?? You may not need a congratulations card too often, but this is a great way to use up your DSP to have a card readily available! You could also keep the layout and just change the sentiment for a birthday card or even a thank you card!

No stamping required!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the new Country Club Designer Series Paper from the 2020 Mini Catalog! This is part of the Country Club Suite, which is perfect for the golfer in your life! Not only that, but if you are planning what to make for Father’s Day or have a more bright and colorful cards, this would also be perfect! Yes, I know that Father’s Day is down the road and we literally just celebrated Christmas….just throwing ideas out there! Lol Trust me, I’m still recovering from the Christmas rush to get everything made, out the door, and spending time with family. So, why not show you an easy card to make that requires NO stamping? That’s right, one of the designs from the DSP has a side that you can color (or not) and it cuts perfectly to make 12 smaller cuts at 3” x 4”. I thought this would be perfect to get out both sets of the Watercolor Pencils and the Aqua Painter for today’s card!

I cut one strip at 4” and then cut each scene at 3”, which there are 3 different scenes, and if you cut down a 12” x 12”, you will get 4 of each scene. For this card, I chose to color this scene:

The base layer is this DSP design, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. Enough Whisper White Baker’s Twine to tie around the DSP twice, to crisscross the front.

2. A 2 ½” x 4” piece of Vellum cardstock embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (I put a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock behind it so you could see).
3. Color in the scenery with Watercolor Pencils using Garden Green for the trees, Early Espresso for the tree trunks, Balmy Blue for the water, Granny Apple Green for the grass, Crushed Curry for the shirt, Night of Navy for the pants, Basic Black for the hat and gloves, mix Balmy Blue and Whisper White for the sky, and mix Flirty Flamingo (very light) with Whisper White to color the arm. I used the small tipped aqua painter to blend (or color) the colors on the DSP. Tip-be very easy with the amount of water used, as you can see I used a bit too much for the sky and the paper will start to crinkle up.

To assemble, I first adhered the embossed Vellum cardstock in the middle of the DSP and then wrapped the baker’s twine around to crisscross the front:

I then adhered the scenery on top with dimensionals and adhered this completed piece to a Night of Navy cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the side:

Viola! Now you have a “no stamped card”! I know, that’s because technically I left the inside sentiment blank! Lol Think of it this way, you can now make some quick and easy “blank” cards to have on hand for any occasion! How many times have you needed a card at the last minute? For me, it’s usually because my husband asks me “Hey, can you make a card for…?” and I tell him I already have one, just need to stamp the inside sentiment!
