Father’s Day Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group’s Father’s Day Theme Blog Hop! My name is Christina Miller, I’m an independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator located in Norfolk, Virginia, and you are visiting my blog, Christina’s Creative Corner! Whether this is your first stop on the blog hop or have hopped on over from another side, thank you for letting me share my creations today! So, let’s get started!

My Father’s Day card is featuring some oldies, but goodies, that will be retiring soon and is a fun way to use up what you have to make room for all the new products that will be available for purchase when the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog goes live on June 4th. For the card front, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and stamped it with the Buffalo Check background stamp in Blueberry Bushel ink, this will be your base layer:

In addition, you will need a strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock cut at 2” x 5 ½”, from the Balmy Blue cardstock and Silver Foil Sheets you will cut the “celebrate” and “you” out, and I chose these three shades of the “grayer” wood DSP, punching out 3 each with the Tailored Tag Punch (for a total of 9):

Using liquid glue, I adhered the wood DSP to the Blueberry Bushel cardstock strip, starting with the darkest shade in the middle and then creating a “tiled” effect. You will have two pieces of the darkest shade left, which I cut in half and used for the corners. After this has dried (just a few minutes), I used scissors to trim any excess DSP from the cardstock strip:

Adhere the check cardstock base layer to a Blueberry Bushel cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”, then adhere the strip across the middle:

The “celebrate” and “you” cut outs are layered on top of each other, slightly off set, using the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere together, and then I used Mini Dimensionals, that I cut in half, to a adhere on top of the “wood” strip. I decided this needed a little something more, so I used three of the True Gentleman Buttons, threaded the Linen Thread through the holes to tie into a knot, and then adhered with Glue Dots to the base layer:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used the Beach Happy stamp set to stamp the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink, the palm tree is stamped in Old Olive and Sahara Sand inks, and then used sponge daubers with Sahara Sand and Balmy Blue inks to create the sand and water around the palm tree:

Isn’t this a fun and easy masculine card to make for any occasion?? If you are like me and sometimes struggle with a more “masculine” card, it can be as easy as choosing two or three colors, DSP, and a punch or two with a simple sentiment!

Create a birthday card using Buffalo Check background stamp!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a more “masculine” themed birthday card using the new Buffalo Check background stamp! What I love about this stamp is how versatile it really is, you can use whatever color scheme and use for whatever occasion! This stamp really wasn’t on my radar from the 2018 Holiday Catalog, but after seeing examples for Halloween, Christmas, and even Baby cards, I decided this stamp is a must! The color scheme for today’s card was really just me seeing what stamping in Night of Navy ink on Call Me Clover cardstock would look like, so I just ran with it and created this birthday card!

To start, you will need Night of Navy cardstock cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

The base layer is Call Me Clover cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and stamped in Night of Navy ink with the Buffalo Check background stamp:

For the front of the card elements, I used the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set on Whisper White cardstock, heat embossed with Silver Emboss Powder, and punched out with the Tailored Tag Punch. Use the Everyday Label Punch on Night of Navy cardstock and then trim the rounded edge on the sides off, this creates a different look. I used one of each size of the True Gentleman Buttons, using Silver Metallic Thread thru the button holes, and you will use additional thread for the card front:

I wrapped the Silver Metallic Thread around the base layer 3 times, using some snail on the back to adhere the ends, and layered and adhered the 2 punched images together, using dimensionals to adhere to the card base:

Adhere the base layer to the card base and the buttons are adhered to the bottom corner with glue dots, use about 2-3 on each to help adhere them to the cardstock:

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is heat embossed in Silver Emboss Powder and the rest of the images are stamped in Night of Navy, Call Me Clover, and Pineapple Punch inks:

Wasn’t that a quick and easy card?? I can’t wait to continue to create with this new Buffalo Check background stamp! Whether it’s tone on tone or mixing ink and cardstock colors, so many possibilities!!
