Birthday card with Sea of Textures

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun birthday card created with the Sea of Textures bundle and the Tranquil Textures DSP! Who wouldn’t love a birthday card with an ocean theme? This fun card not only has lots of textures, but a little bit of shimmer too! I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for warmer weather and spending time at the beach!

To start, the base layer is this design from Tranquil Textures DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

To create the frame, use a piece of Night of Navy cardstock cut at 3 ¾” x 5” and use the 2ndand 3rdlargest Rectangle Stitched Framelits:

For the front of the card, use the net and the two sand dollar dies on some Sahara Sand cardstock, first creating the shimmer with Frost White Shimmer Paint (either apply with a sponge or a spritzer mixed with alcohol and a few drops of paint) and keep the stars for the card front, cut the seagrass in Tranquil Tide and Soft Sea Foam cardstock, cut a piece of Vellum cardstock a 1” x 3 3/8” and stamp the seaweed stamp in Tranquil Tide ink (I used my snips to cut along the seaweed), use both coral dies to cut out of Vellum cardstock and then use your Stamparatus to line up the stamp (out of the vellum cut-out) to stamp in Calypso Coral ink, and then use Sponge Daubers to ink the octopus in Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede inks, cutting out of the Whisper White cardstock with the coordinating die. **TIP-I used my Stamparatus for the octopus, this way if I wanted to add more ink and stamp again it is already lined up:

For the inside, you will use the two sand dollars and the coral cut out of the Vellum cardstock:

You will flip the frame over (the back is facing you) and use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the seaweed and seagrass to the back of the frame:

Flip the frame back over (so the front is facing you), use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the stamped coral image and the two stars:

I wanted the net in the corner, so I positioned it to where I wanted and then folded the overlapping ends over, used my snips to trim at the fold, and then adhered with Snail (I used my Paper Piercer to remove any adhesive in the net openings):

To adhere the frame to the base layer, I used foam strips to “pop it up”:

I used dimensionals to adhere the octopus in the middle and then this completed piece is adhered to a Tranquil Tide cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment from Special Celebrations is stamped in Tranquil Tide ink, the two sand dollars are adhered with glue dots, and the vellum coral piece is adhered with the Fine Tip Glue Pen:

Wasn’t that a fun card to make? If you wanted to make this into a shaker card, you could easily adhere a cut Window Sheet to the back of the frame before the cardstock and vellum pieces, use the foam strips completely around, and then add some Tranquil Textures Sprinkles!
