Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is an easy and fun card featuring the new Sunny Sentiments stamp set, Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper, and the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon! I absolutely love the new Simply Elegant 12” x 12” DSP, pictures do not do this stunning DSP justice!! Have you ever opened a new package of DSP and thought, “oh, wow…this paper is gorgeous!!”? Yep, ooohhh’s and aaaahhh’s galore with this DSP! Lol! Since this DSP has lots of foil designs, I wanted to create my first card by using my Blending Brush with Pale Papaya ink to color one of the gold foil design to give the DSP a warm and soft look.
The base layer is this design from the Simply Elegant DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” and I used my Blending Brush with Pale Papaya ink to give the DSP a gradient look with the ink darker at the top and lighter towards the bottom. I included a ¾” x 4” piece of the DSP so you can see what the DSP looks like before blending, but you will also blend the ink on this strip for the inside:
For the card front, you will need:
1. A 16” piece of the Soft Succulent Open Weaver Ribbon.
2. Heat emboss the sentiment from Sunny Sentiments in Gold Emboss Powder on Very Vanilla cardstock and use the largest Tasteful Labels Dies to die-cut out.
3. Use the same die again to die-cut out of Gold Foil Sheet, which will be layered under the above sentiment piece.
I placed a small amount of Seal in the middle of the DSP base layer to adhere the ribbon, as shown:
The die-cut gold foil is adhered behind the sentiment with the top slightly sticking out and then this piece is adhered over the ribbon with dimensionals:
This completed piece is adhered to an Evening Evergreen cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment from Sunny Sentiments in Evening Evergreen ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
How quick and easy was that? I love using the Blending Brushes to add color to this DSP, you can use any color ink pad to create a soft look, like I did, or bold and bright, the choice is yours! While the Tasteful Labels Dies are not new, they carried over from the 2020-2021 AC, they are new to me! After some of my favorite die sets that are my “go-to” for sentiments retired, I decided to purchase these as they have lots of different shapes and sizes that can be used for a variety of sentiments or just layering.
