Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is an awesome Thanksgiving card made with Come to Gather Suite! What makes this card awesome? The added Shimmery Crystal Effects to the pumpkins on the card front! Stampin’ Up! use to sell Crystal Effects a while ago, so when they offered it in this year’s Holiday Catalog, I just had to get it! I thought this would be a perfect element to add to Christmas cards, but I didn’t want to wait until I started making those to play with it, so this is my first experiment with the new Shimmery Crystal Effects and I love how it turned out!
You will first start with this design from the Come to Gather DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:
For the card front you will need:
1. Use the second largest Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut out a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.
2. Use the third largest Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink and the wheat stamp is in Gray Granite ink, first generation stamping for middle and second generation stamping for the sides.
3. Use enough Braided Linen Trim to tie into a bow and curl the ends with your bone folder.
4. On Whisper White cardstock, stamp the pumpkins in Early Espresso ink, color in the stems with the Bronze Stampin’ Blends, and cut out with the coordinating dies. Trace the outline of the pumpkins with the Shimmery Crystal Effects and then fill in. Since these take quite some time to dry, you can put these in the freezer to speed up the drying process:
Adhere the Stitched Nested Label pieces together and then adhere to the base layer DSP. Since the pumpkins are a little heavier with the crystal effects, I used liquid glue to adhere the single pumpkin and then a dimensional for the double pumpkins and then linen bow is adhered with a glue dot:
This completed piece is adhered to an Early Espresso cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, adhere a ¾” x 4” piece of the same DSP design to the left side, stamp the sentiment and pumpkins in Early Espresso ink, and color in the pumpkins with Bronze and Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends, use the Color Lifter to make the middle sections a little lighter:
I just love the added element of Shimmery Crystal Effects, don’t you?? If you notice that it looks like I colored the pumpkins, it is actually an effect of the crystal effects, it will tend to “smear” an inked image. I actually made 6 of these cards, I cut up all of the DSP so that I don’t “hoard” it and get some of my Thanksgiving cards made!
