Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun and easy card featuring the Dandy Designs 12” x 12” DSP and the Dragonfly Garden stamp set with the coordinating Dragonflies Punch! When I first saw the Dragonfly Trinkets in the January – April Mini Catalog, they made it right on my list to purchase so they can be used with the Dragonfly Garden stamp set! For this card, I chose a design from the Dandy Designs DSP that I could coordinate the cardstock and the color of the dragonfly wings with and give a little pop of color for the flower stamped image with Stampin’ Blends. Since I haven’t used the Stitched with Whimsy Dies in a while, I thought this little added stitching detail was the perfect accent to the background cardstock layer!
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Dandy Designs DSP, cut down into six 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 3 ½” x 4 ¾” piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and use the second from the largest layering Stitched with Whimsy Die to die-cut.
2. Cut a 2 ¾” x 4” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the flower stamp in Early Espresso ink, and after letting the ink dry for a few minutes (or use your heat gun), color in the leaves with a Light Granny Apple Stampin’ Blends and the daffodil centers and other small flowers with a Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.
3. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the butterfly in Early Espresso ink, let this dry completely, use a Dark Balmy Blue (close to the body) and Light Bermuda Bay (towards the tip) Stampin’ Blends to color the wings, punch out with the coordinating Dragonflies Punch, and use a Wink of Stella Pen to color the wings.
4. You will need one Dragonfly Trinket.
5. Use enough of the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon to tie into a small bow.
To assemble the card, adhere the Basic White cardstock piece to the middle of the Balmy Blue cardstock, and then adhere this layered piece to the middle of the DSP base layer. Use dimensionals to adhere the punched dragonfly and glue dots to adhere the dragonfly trinket and ribbon bow as shown, adhering this completed piece to a Coastal Cabana cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Coastal Cabana ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, stamp the kaleidoscope (group of butterflies) stamp in the corner with Coastal Cabana ink:
What a quick and easy card! This is another great way to use your free SAB cardstock with a stamp set from the annual catalog! Something new I learned today, is what to call a group of butterflies: a kaleidoscope or even referred to as a swarm! Did you know that a group of caterpillars are called an army?? I Googled what a group of butterflies are called and that’s the answer! Random trivia, but you just never know when it may come in handy, lol!! Happy Friday!!
