May your season sparkle!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a super fun Christmas card made with lots of sparkle and shimmer! The Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper is such a fun and colorful paper to use for your Christmas cards and crafts, but it also features some “watercolor wash” designs which are perfect for using with embossing folders to give your cards some extra added texture! Then when you add in glimmer paper, iridescent ribbon, and shimmer paint, you have a beautiful Christmas card!

The base layer is this design from the Snowflake Splendor DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder:

For the card front, you will need:

1. One of the Square Vellum Doilies, which I poured a little bit of the Frost White Shimmer Paint on a clear block and used a Stampin’ Sponge to sponge the frost paint onto. I used a scrap piece of paper underneath to protect my work area.

2. Stamp the sentiment from Snowflake Wishes on Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink, die-cut out with the second smallest layering Stitched Rectangles Dies, and use two of the 6mm darker Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems as shown.

3. I used two different detailed snowflake dies from the So Many Snowflakes Dies to die-cut out of Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, which I placed some of the Adhesive Sheets on the back of the paper first.

4. A 6 ¼” piece of Snowflake Splendor Ribbon.

I used some adhesive on the back of the ribbon to help adhere it to the embossed base layer DSP, with the ends adhered to the backside, and a little bit of adhesive in the middle of the vellum doily to adhere over the ribbon as shown:

The sentiment is adhered over the middle of the doily with dimensionals and I removed the adhesive backing from the die-cut snowflakes to adhere as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Night of Navy cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment from Snowflake Wishes in Night of Navy ink, and adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of embossed DSP as shown:

What a beautiful card that is super easy to make! Since I cut the whole 12” x 12” piece of DSP down to make six of these cards, instead of cutting the strips down for the inside of the card, I first embossed the 1 ½” x 4” strips and then cut them in half at ¾”. I thought this was a super fun detail for the inside, which ties into the card front. Another fun alternative for the DSP base layer, you can stamp snowflakes in dark ink, Whisper White craft ink, or even heat emboss! You also don’t want to forget about the Square Vellum Doilies, which you can use shimmer paint, like I did, or even ink to color them and give these doilies a whole different look!
