Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a follow up from last Friday’s post using a leftover piece of DSP from the New Horizons 6” x 6” DSP! If you remember, I had a 2” x 6” piece of the DSP that I did not use for that card and set it aside to use for another card. Since it is a horizon design, why not pair it with the Sailing Home stamp set and the Smooth Sailing Dies? I haven’t used them in a while, so why not use products from the annual catalog with the mini catalog? If you are looking for a quick and easy card that uses minimal products, this is it! It’s also a great “masculine themed” card for birthdays, Father’s Day, or any occasion!
The base layer is Basic White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the stripe folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders. Since the cardstock is bigger than the folder, I was easily able to emboss one side of the cardstock, line the folder up to emboss a second time to completely emboss the cardstock. The first time I place the folder in the Cut & Emboss Machine like normal, but the second time I had to run it through sideways:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. The 2” x 6” piece of New Horizons DSP.
2. A 2 ¼” x 5 ¼” piece of Calypso Coral cardstock.
3. Enough of the Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine (Baker’s Twine Essentials pack) to wrap around your four fingers four times and then twist into a figure 8.
4. Stamp the large sailboat in Night of Navy ink on Basic White cardstock and use the coordinating die to die-cut out.
I used liquid glue to adhere the DSP to the middle of the cardstock, trimming the excess DSP off the end, and adhered this layered strip in the middle of the embossed base layer cardstock. I used a little bit of Stampin’ Seal in the middle of the DSP to adhere the twisted baker’s twine, placed a mini dimensional on each side of the twisted middle, placed a little bit of Stampin’ Seal in the middle of the back of the die-cut sailboat, and placed the sailboat over the mini dimensionals, I did this to ensure the baker’s twine and the die-cut sailboat were securely adhered. This completed piece is adhered to a Night of Navy cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, the sentiment from Paradise Palms and the smaller sailboat in the bottom corner are both stamped in Night of Navy ink:
For the coordinating envelope, I stamped the smaller sailboat in the corner in Night of Navy ink:
Just a few tools and you have a wonderful nautical themed card! Don’t shy away from the smaller embossing folders! Depending on the design, you can emboss a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of cardstock! The Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders are becoming my favorites that I hope carry over to the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog! Which is in less than two months to launch!!
