I was super excited when I saw the Slim Card Dies and the Slimline Envelopes in the 2022 JJ Mini Catalog and the Daffodil Daydream Bundle is perfect for Slim Line Cards! While I know the Daffodil Dies can be a little overwhelming at first, they are super easy to layer together and create lovely daffodils! Even though this Easter Card involves a lot of die-cutting, it is a breeze to make!
The base layer for the card front is Bumblebee cardstock cut at 3 ½” x 8 ½”, the next layer is this dot design from the Pattern Party 12” x 12” DSP cut at 3 ¼” x 8 ¼”, and I used the curly bracket edge die from the Slim Card Dies to die-cut both:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. From Old Olive cardstock, die-cut out two each of the stems and three of the grass/leaf as shown.
2. From Garden Green cardstock, die-cut out three of the grass/leaf as shown.
3. From So Saffron cardstock, use the solid dies to die-cut out two of the tepals, one cup (or corona), and one bud.
4. From Bumblebee cardstock, use the detailed dies to die-cut two of the tepals, one cup (or corona), and one bud. These will be layered together. You will also use the smaller butterfly die to die-cut out two pieces.
5. From Very Vanilla cardstock, use the solid dies to die-cut the two different sized tepals, one cup (or corona), and one bud.
6. From Pale Papaya cardstock, use the detailed dies to die-cut the two different sized tepals, one cut (or corona), and one bud. These will be layered together.
7. From Basic Black cardstock, use the larger butterfly die to die-cut two pieces. The smaller Bumblebee die-cuts will be layered on these.
8. You will need enough of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon to tie around the layered stems and leaves into a bow.
9. You will need three of the small Brushed Brass Butterflies, not pictured.
I used liquid glue to adhere the layered daffodil flowers, buds, and stems together:
The base layer cardstock and next layer DSP are adhered together with the straight edge lined up together, the daffodils placed on the DSP with dimensionals to adhere, keeping the stems centered, and then I placed the grass/leaf die-cuts behind and on top of the daffodils, also keeping them centered with the stems, using a little bit of liquid glue to adhere in place. Towards the bottom, I tied the gingham ribbon around the stems and leaves/grass, used a glue dot to adhere the ribbon in place on the DSP, trimmed the excess cardstock off, cut a dimensional in half to adhere the two die-cut layered butterflies, and placed the three Brushed Brass Butterflies as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock card base, cut at 7 ½” x 8 ¾”, scored at 3 ¾” along the 7 ½” side:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 ½” x 8 ½”, stamp the sentiment and butterflies in Memento ink, use Dark Daffodil Delight and Light So Saffron Stampin’ Blends to color in the butterflies, and I used my Stamparatus to stamp the filigree style stamp along the bottom in Memento ink:
