Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is fun and easy card featuring the Oceanfront and Paradise Palms stamp sets with the Simply Marbleous DSP! If you are a fan of stamping sceneries, both stamp sets are for you! You can combine both stamp sets to create an over-the-top tropical beach scenery or pick a few stamps from each to keep it simplistic, the choice is yours! For today’s card, I chose a few stamps for the scenery and added a few simple elements to pair with the Misty Moonlight and Coastal Cabana designs from the Simply Marbleous DSP!
The base layer is this Misty Moonlight design from the Simply Marbleous DSP, which I cut a 2” x 6” piece and along the 6” side of the 4” x 6” piece, I cut at ¾”. This will give you three pieces of DSP measuring 2” x 6” (for the envelope flap), ¾” x 4” (for the inside of the card), and 5 ¼” x 4” (for the base layer):
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. On a piece of Basic White cardstock (I used a 4” x 5” piece), the sunrise/sunset is stamped in Pale Papaya, Magenta Madness, and Gorgeous Grape inks, inking the stamp in Pale Papaya, and used a sponge dauber for the Magenta Madness and Gorgeous Grape inks. The ocean is first inked in Balmy Blue, used the end of my Misty Moonlight pad to ink the “top or outer ocean”, and blended the line between the two colors with a sponge dauber and Balmy Blue ink. The shore is stamped in Crumb Cake ink, I used the sun stamp from Paradise Palms in Pale Papaya ink, masking the ocean, and the two rocks stamp in Gray Granite ink. This is die-cut out with the third largest Layering Diorama die, I added a little bit more depth to the waves by using a Blender Pen with Whisper White Craft ink, and after the craft ink dried, stamp the beach grass in Gray Granite ink.
2. Use the second largest Layering Diorama die to die-cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock, this will be layered under the above piece.
3. Three of the Faux Sea Glass Shapes in one of each color, not pictured.
I first adhered the die-cut Misty Moonlight cardstock to the base layer DSP, the die-cut scenery on top slightly askew, and the three Faux Sea Glass Shapes. This is then adhered to a Thick Basic White cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating envelope, stamp the shoreline in Crumb Cake ink and the beach grass in Gray Granite ink on the front and adhere the 2” x 6” piece of DSP to the flap, trimming off the excess:
Here is an alternative version using Coastal Cabana, I just changed the color of the ocean to Pool Party and Coastal Cabana inks:
While it may seem like a lot with all the inks I used, these were very easy to make! You can make the scenery a little bit easier by just using one color for the sky and if you don’t have or like the Layering Diorama Dies, just cut a piece of Basic White cardstock down to a smaller size (4 ½” x 3 ¼” would work) and layer with Misty Moonlight or Coastal Cabana cardstocks.
