Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which will wrap up my week of the Bright & Beautiful Suite! For this any celebratory occasion card, I decided to make it all about the balloons! Instead of stamping the balloons and die-cutting them out, I decided to die-cut all the balloons out first, I stamped a couple and dry embossed the rest! This is a great way to give your die-cut balloons some depth and texture! While the Gold Celebrations Specialty Designer Series Paper is another fun way to add accents to your card, I used a full piece from one of the three designs to layer over the DSP base layer to give the card front another fun look!
For the card front, I used this design from the Bright & Beautiful 6” x 6” DSP that I cut into a 4” x 6” piece, then cutting a ¾” strip from the 6” side to be used for the inside of the card, you will put the 2” x 6” piece aside for another time. I also cut at 4” x 5 ¼” piece using the confetti design from the Gold Celebrations 12” x 12” Specialty DSP:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. From Lemon Lolly cardstock, use the largest and smallest framelit balloon dies to die-cut out, emboss the large balloon with the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder, and use the small confetti stamp with Lemon Lolly ink to stamp on the small balloon.
2. From Lost Lagoon cardstock, use the largest framelit balloon die and small (solid) balloon die to die-cut out, use the large balloon confetti stamp and Lost Lagoon ink to stamp on the large balloon, and use the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the small balloon.
3. From Soft Sea Foam cardstock, use the large and small (solid) balloon dies to die-cut out, use the Stripes 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the large balloon, and use the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the small balloon.
4. From Gold Foil Sheets, use the medium framelit die to die-cut two out, emboss one with the Twisted Rope 3D EF, and emboss the other one with the Stripes 3D EF.
5. You will cut four pieces of the gold Simply Elegant Trim; this will be used for the balloon strings.
To assemble the card front, I laid the acetate sheet on top of the DSP, adhered the large Lost Lagoon balloon die-cut to the acetate, used dimensionals to adhere the large Lemon Lolly, and adhered the rest of the die-cut balloons as shown, using dimensionals for the small Lost Lagoon and Soft Sea Foam balloons. I used glue dots to adhere the gold trim strings to the four bottom balloons, used a piece of the black baker’s twine, that I folded in two, to tie the gold trim strings together in a knot, trimming off the excess. I placed adhesive on the back of the acetate, behind the balloons, to adhere to the DSP base layer, and adhered this completed piece to a Pretty Peacock cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I used the small and medium balloons to stamp as shown in Lemon Lolly and Lost Lagoon inks:
How fun is this suite?? While the DSP and card base are Pretty Peacock, with a little Lost Lagoon also in the DSP, I decided to use complimentary colors with Lost Lagoon, Lemon Lolly and Soft Sea Foam!
