Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a cute Halloween card featuring the Frightfully Cute Bundle, Natural Textures stamp set, and the Silver Foil Specialty Pack! Were you bummed like me when the Silver Foil Sheets retired? Well if you missed it, in the July – December 2021 Mini Catalog has a new and improved Silver Foil Specialty Pack! While it may only have three sheets, each one has a different finish-mirror, matte, and brush-and they are different colors, which is so versatile! But alas, I used the mirror finish for today’s card, which in my opinion worked best!
For the card front base layer, cut a piece of Basic Gray cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, use the brick background stamp from Natural Textures to stamp along the bottom and top, and heat emboss the sentiment in the bottom corner in White Embossing Powder. Tip-normally I do not mount my stamps with the adhesive label, but with this stamp set I did and just tried to “eyeball” lining up each time I stamped, which was three times on each side, and looks like one continuous stamp or a big background stamp:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Use the tree die to die-cut from Basic Black cardstock.
2. Stamp the moon in Crushed Curry ink on Basic White cardstock, die-cut out with the coordinating die, and use a sponge dauber to ink along the edges and lightly ink the moon spots.
3. Use the owl die to die-cut from Crushed Curry cardstock (spritz with water first) and cut a scrap of the Black Glitter paper that will fit behind the die-cut owl, covering the eyes and beak.
4. Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 2” x 5 ¼”, stamp the spider in Old Olive ink, stamp the pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie ink, and stamp the bat in Memento ink (I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to fill in if I didn’t get enough ink on the stamp). I then used a Blending Brush with Smoky Slate ink.
5. Cut two ½” strips of the Silver Foil, in the mirror finish, a little longer than the piece above as they will be adhered along the top and bottom edges.
Place some adhesive along the top and bottom edges of the stamped Basic White cardstock, use your grid paper to help line up if needed, and trim the excess of the end. I used a little bit of liquid glue to adhere the Black Glitter Paper behind the die-cut owl:
Adhere the cardstock/foil piece to the middle of the stamped cardstock base layer (use your grid paper as a guide if needed), a little bit of liquid glue along the tree trunk to adhere the die-cut tree to the middle of the layered cardstock piece, adhere the die-cut moon behind the tree branches, and a dimensional to adhere the die-cut owl. This completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Old Olive ink, the jars in Pumpkin Pie ink in each corner, and color in the middle “label” of each with a Light So Saffron Stampin’ Blends:
Fun little Halloween card with just a little bit of die-cutting! This is the first time I’ve used the Natural Textures stamp set and I liked how this stamping turned out! I did have the stamp overlap the edges, so not to worry about lining up right to the edge, and since this is a red rubber stamp, I had to “guess” if I was not too far or too close to each stamped image. Luckily it turned out, so maybe I’ll give the other stamps a try? lol
