Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which features the Dandy Designs 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper and the Sending Smiles Bundle! Can you believe tomorrow is the LAST DAY of Sale-A-Bration?? Can you believe the day after that is the first of March?? Spring is right around the corner, hopefully, and what better way to give you some inspiration with the Dandy Designs DSP and a bundle from the annual catalog? I decided to pull out one sheet of each design from the Dandy Designs DSP that I have yet to use and see what from the annual catalog would be fun to pair with. It always seems like when with the holidays and then the new year mini catalogs come out, the stamp sets and bundles from the annual catalog seem to be forgotten. This is the perfect opportunity to use up one sheet of the DSP to create six “any occasion” cards with the Sending Smiles Bundle! Now, there is a lot of die-cutting involved and after the tutorial I will break it down how much of what you need to die-cut to make six of these super cute cards!
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Dandy Designs DSP, cut into six 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and six ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 3” x 3” piece of Basic White cardstock and emboss with the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder.
2. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of a piece of mirrored Silver Foil and use the die to die-cut out. Use the outline die to die-cut from Vellum cardstock, remove the adhesive backing from the silver foil die-cut and place on the vellum die-cut.
3. Stamp each of the stem stamps on Basic White cardstock in Shaded Spruce ink and use the coordinating dies to die-cut out.
4. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the large flower in Polished Pink ink and the center in Daffodil Delight ink, stamp the two smaller flowers in Daffodil Delight ink and the centers in Polished Pink ink, and use the coordinating dies to die-cut out. (I will tell you how many of each to stamp and die-cut at the end).
5. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the small leaf/flower stamp one time each in Shaded Spruce, Polished Pink, and Daffodil Delight inks and use the coordinating die to die-cut out.
6. You will need one Dragonfly Trinket.
7. You will need enough of the Silver Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon to adhere one strip across the bottom (ends adhered to the back of the base layer DSP) and a smaller piece to tie into a knot.
To assemble the card front, adhere the die-cut stems to the embossed 3” x 3” cardstock use dimensionals to adhere one Polished Pink and two Daffodil Delight die-cut flowers, and adhere the three small die-cut leaf/flower pieces to the back of the 3” x 3” embossed cardstock. Adhere the ends of the ribbon to the back of the DSP base layer about an 1” from the bottom, tie the small piece of ribbon into a knot, trim the ends, place a little bit of adhesive on the back of the ribbon to adhere to the DSP base layer, adhere the embossed 3” x 3” square to the DSP base layer as shown, use glue dots to adhere the die-cut sentiment to the embossed square, and cut a glue dot in half to place on the back of the dragonfly wings to adhere as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Thick Basic White cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, ink the sentiment in Daffodil Delight ink and use the edge of the Polished Pink ink pad to partially ink the sentiment, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, stamp the flower in Polished Pink ink and the center in Daffodil Delight ink:
The easiest way I found for all this die-cutting is to cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and stamp everything at one time then you can die-cut several pieces at once (you may need to pieces of cardstock): You will need six of each stem (12 total), six of each leaf/flower stamp in Shaded Spruce, Polished Pink, and Daffodil Delight (18 total), 4 half flowers-two in Daffodil Delight and Polished Pink center and two in Polished Pink and Daffodil Delight center, 4 large flowers-two in DD/PP and two in PP/DD, 5 round end small flowers-two in DD/PP and three in PP/DD, 5 in the wispy end small flowers- three in DD/PP and two in PP/DD. This will give you enough of everything for six cards and you will alternate the flowers used, like for this card I used one Polished Pink and two Daffodil Delight, then the next card would have one Daffodil Delight and Two Polished Pink. I hope this all makes sense, lol! If not, just stamp and die-cut the flowers exactly how I did for this card! Since there are several sentiments from this bundle, you can omit the sentiment for the inside of the card and keep them on hand when you need them!
