Sand & Sea Suite fun!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a quick and easy card featuring the Sand & Sea Suite! It’s no secret this is my favorite suite from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog and I thought I would show you how to make this quick card that is so easy, but also a different way to use those Layering Diorama Dies from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog!

For the base layer, I used this design from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

For the card front, you will need:

1. I cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock at 4 ¼” x 5 ½”, used the large die from Seaside Seashells to first die-cut out, and then embossed with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. Using my Blending Brushes, I used Flirty Flamingo ink for theCalico and Lion’s Paw Scallop shells, So Saffron ink for the Banded Tulip and Tinted Cantharus shells, and Sahara Sand ink for the Hermit Crab shell. I used Soft Sea Foam for the sea grass and seaweed, then used Soft Succulent ink just around the edges of the sea grass and seaweed to give it just a little more depth.

2. The sentiment is stamped on Shimmery White cardstock in Melon Mambo ink and die-cut out with the smallest Layering Diorama Die.

3. Use the second smallest Layering Diorama Die to die-cut out of Melon Mambo cardstock, this will be layered under the above sentiment die-cut.

4. Three of the 5mm Opal Rounds, not pictured.

I used Seal and glue dots to adhere the embossed and die-cut cardstock to the base layer DSP, adhered the layered and Opal Rounds as shown, and this completed piece is adhered to a Melon Mambo cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink, and adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:

Talk about quick, this is like a 10 minute card! So, if you are wondering how I chose to use the Layering Diorama Dies for the card front sentiment, it was purely a “let’s try this” moment! I was trying to figure out if I had any “current” punches that I could use that would fit, but since I don’t and was looking through my die sets for something that was small, but I could layer and not to completely cover and take away from the shells, I tried the Layering Diorama Dies and they totally worked!
