Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is pretty and easy to create featuring the Royal Peacock Bundle! I will admit that every time I sit at my desk with this stamp set I will get on Google to find pictures and inspiration of real peacocks. You will find several color inspirations, which the first one I started out with used Lovely Lipstick, Highland Heather, and Old Olive, but I just wasn’t happy with the end result. So, I put my computer away, set the colorful peacock aside, and started over with a blank piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
Since the male is the colorful one, I decided to make a “female version” using Gray Granite as the base color, heat embossed the accent stamp with Silver Emboss Powder, and used Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends just to give her a bit of color. For these two stamps, I highly recommend using your Stamparatus to get a good alignment with the accent stamp:
The base layer is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Pretty Peacock Foil Sheet and is embossed with the Beads & Baubles Embossing Folder:
For the rest of the card front your will need:
1. The stamped peacock cut out with the coordinating die and I added a small Pretty Peacock rhinestone from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones for the eye.
2. Two strips of the Scalloped Laced Trim and Braided Linen Trim, cut at different lengths.
3. A piece of Gray Granite cardstock cut out with the third largest Layering Ovals Dies and embossed with the Beads & Baubles EF. Tip-Before embossing, I placed the EF on top of the embossed foil sheet, lined up the cardstock to where I was going to place it, and then embossed. This gives the cardstock and the foil sheet a fluid look when layered.
I used some snail on the back of the embossed oval cardstock to adhere the trim pieces and then placed dimensionals on top. This is then adhered to the base layer:
Adhere the peacock on top of the embossed oval cardstock and then adhere this complete piece to a Gray Granite cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
The inside sentiment is on a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamped in Pretty Peacock ink, and the flowers are stamped in Gray Granite ink:
So, what do you think of this “alternative coloring” for this peacock? I am much happier with this version and feel that the peacock still stands out against the foil sheet. I know that peacock’s have very distinct colors, so I may try something a little outside of the that color box on a future project.
