Just add color!

Hello and welcome to my first blog post of 2019! I hope you all had a safe and joyous holiday season! Now that the 2019 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs has gone live, I thought I would show you not one, but two cards using the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, which you can earn for FREE with a qualifying $50 (USD) purchase! This beautiful DSP not only has lots of color, but black and white as well! Two of the designs are of butterflies in black and white and I chose one of the designs to spotlight the butterflies using Stampin’ Blends. If you have thought about purchasing Stampin’ Blends or maybe have already started purchasing a few of the Stampin’ Blends, this is a perfect opportunity to use them and just add color!

To start, I used this butterfly and flower black and white design and at 3 ¾” x 12” and then cut that piece down at 5”, giving me two pieces of DSP measuring 3 ¾” x 5”. For the DSP on the right, I chose Dark Pineapple Punch, Light Mango Melody, and Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. For the DSP on the left, I chose Dark Petal Pink, Light Flirty Flamingo (I started with Dark Flirty Flamingo on one of the butterflies, decided it was too dark, and then switched to Light Flirty Flamingo), and Dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends:

Cut two pieces of Basic Black cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” to layer the DSP on:

For the card on the right, I used Mango Melody cardstock for the card base and Flirty Flamingo cardstock for the card base for the card on the left, both cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

The card front sentiment is from Rooted in Nature, stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Pumpkin Pie and Lovely Lipstick inks, and then punch out the sentiment with the 1 1/8” Scallop Circle Punch. I used the 1 3/8” Scallop Circle Punch to punch out a piece in Pumpkin Pie and Lovely Lipstick cardstock to layer the sentiment on. You will cut a piece of the Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon long enough to wrap around the DSP and Basic Black base layer:

The DSP is adhered to the Basic Black base layer and then the ribbon is adhered across the bottom. TIP-this ribbon is wide enough that you can use some Snail on the back to help keep it in place on the card front. The sentiment is then adhered to the layering cardstock, then adhered with a dimensional, and finally is adhered to the card base:

For the inside sentiment on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is also from Rooted in Nature stamp set, in Mango Melody and Flirty Flamingo ink. The butterflies are from Butterfly Gala stamp set in Memento Ink and are colored in with the same Stampin’ Blends colors as the front of the card:

Happy Wishes

Hello and welcome to part 5 of this week’s Sale-A-Bration spotlight on stamp sets! Today I created two quick and easy cards with the Happy Wishes stamp set! You can earn this free with a qualifying $100.00 order and if you are looking for a stamp set with lots of saying, this is it! But don’t delay, Sale-A-Bration ends tomorrow, Saturday March 31st!

Happy Day card:

The card base is Berry Burst cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and the base layer is Berry Burst Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”.

From the Myths & Magic 6” x 6” Glimmer Paper, cut at piece of the iridescent paper 2” x 5 ¼” and punch the end out with the Banner Triple Punch.

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the “happy” stamp in Basic Gray Archival ink, color the leaves with Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker, and the flowers are colored in Blushing Bride, Berry Burst, and Rich Razzleberry inks. I used the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker but used a Blender Pen with the Berry Burst and Rich Razzleberry inks since the markers were too dark for me. The “day” sentiment was stamped in Berry Burst ink. This is then cut out with the 2nd largest Lots of Labels Thinlits and I used some Snail on the back to adhere some Silver Metallic Thread.

To put this card together, I adhered the glimmer paper with Fast Fuse to the Foil DSP layer, adhered that to the card base, and adhered the sentiment in the middle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Best Wishes card:

The card base is in Tempting Turquoise cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and the base layer is Soft Sky Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”.

From the Myths & Magic 6” x 6” Glimmer Paper, cut at piece of the turquoise paper 2” x 5 ¼” and punch the end out with the Banner Triple Punch.

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the “best” in Basic Gray Archival ink, color the leaves with Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker and color the flowers with a Blender Pen and Tempting Turquoise and Soft Sky inks. The “wishes” sentiment is stamped in Tempting Turquoise ink. This is then cut out with the 3rd largest Lots of Labels Thinlits and I used some Snail on the back to adhere some Silver Metallic Thread.

To put this card together, I adhered the glimmer paper with Fast Fuse to the Foil DSP layer, adhered that to the card base, and adhered the sentiment in the middle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Lovely Flowers

Hello and welcome to day 4 of this week’s Sale-A-Bration countdown! Today’s card will by my final creation using the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP. I know, sad face L! I really do enjoy using this paper and I could go on, but I’ve got other ideas and more Sale-A-Bration products to share! For this card, I really wanted to show the simplicity in creating a stunning card with a few simple products, including a Q-Tip!

The card base is Calypso Coral cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the base layer is Springtime Foils Specialty DSP cut at 4” x 5 ¼”.

When I first started coloring in the flowers with Sponge Daubers, it was to create a soft look and purposely coloring outside the lines, but the control wasn’t what I wanted, so hence a Q-Tip! I actually used Precision Tips to color in the flowers in Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral inks and the leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink. I really love how these turned out! I tied a piece of the Shimmer Ribbon in Calypso Coral in a bow around the DSP and stamped the sentiment from the Blossoming Basket stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink, punched the end with the Banner Triple Punch and sponged Calypso Coral ink around the edge. The DSP is adhered to the card base with Snail and then sentiment is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the ribbon.

Flowers for you

Hello and welcome to day 3 of this week’s Sale-A-Bration countdown! Today’s card is keeping with the “springtime” feeling with two of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP sheets and some pops of color! With the 2016-2018 In Colors retiring soon, I wanted incorporate at least one color and Flirty Flamingo was it!

The card base is Flirty Flamingo cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP is cut at 4” 5 ¼”.

I used Sponge Brayers to color the dotted DSP in Powder Pink, Flirty Flamingo, and Melon Mambo inks. I chose a couple of flowers from the DSP and colored those in Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler, Light and Dark Rich Razzleberry, Light Pumpkin Pie, Light Calypso Coral, and Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ blends. The leaves are from the Rose Garden Thinlits in light green from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper, which are then adhered behind the flowers. A piece of Vellum Paper is cut out using the largest scalloped framelit from the Layering Circles Framelits, with the flowers then adhered on top. To give the flowers a “dewy look” I added some glitter circle and raindrops from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes.

To put the card together, I adhered the DSP to the card base and then adhered the flowers and vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Happy Wishes stamp set, stamped on Whisper White card stock on Memento ink, then end is punched out using the Banner Triple Punch, and then sponged around the edges in Flirty Flamingo ink with a Stampin’ Sponge.
