Poppin’ Birthday-Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are my first two alternatives for the March 2019 Paper Pumpkin, Poppin’ Birthday! This month celebrated Paper Pumpkin’s 6thbirthday, which not only included everything you needed to make 8 super cute birthday cards with coordinating envelopes, but you received a special stamp set for free! Now, if you are unfamiliar with Paper Pumpkin or missed out, you can see the video here. I on the other hand, couldn’t wait to share with you my alternatives, so let’s get started with the first two!

For card #1, you will be able to make two cards from this layout by trimming the confetti card base into two pieces measuring 4” x 5 ¼” and cutting the presents pop-out insert out along the score lines (this will give you six pieces). I adhered the bows from the kit to the presents, stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punching out with the 2” Circle Punch and punching a piece of Silver Foil Sheet with the Starburst Punch to layer the sentiment on. The balloons are stamped on Whisper White cardstock in Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight ink, punched out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, and then tied a piece of Silver & Whisper White Baker’s Twine on each end:

The presents are adhered to the base layer and the sentiments and balloons are adhered with dimensionals:

This is then adhered to a Basic Black card base, cut at 4 ¼”x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

The inside is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and the streamers are stamped in Daffodil Delight ink:

For card #2, you will also be able to make two of these cards. First start with two of the die-cut candles and one of the die-cut striped rectangle pieces, layer the die-cut candles one behind the other so you can see the back candle in between the front candles, and remove the adhesive backing from the back set to adhere to the front set:

Then you will remove the adhesive backing from the front of the candles to adhere them to the back of the striped rectangle piece, which now makes this piece look like a birthday cake:

You will cut one of the confetti card bases into two 4” x 5 ¼” pieces (this will be your base layer) and then cut a 3 ½” x 4 ¾” piece of Whisper White cardstock:

I used this burst stamp from the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set in Daffodil Delight ink on the piece of Whisper White cardstock:

Adhere the birthday cake piece with dimensionals and then adhere this piece to the base layer:

I used some Basic Black Satin Ribbon to tie a bow around the front of the base layer and then adhered this completed piece to a Flirty Flamingo card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

The inside is a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment is stamped in Flirty Flamingo ink and the burst is stamped in Daffodil Delight ink:

Fun and easy alternative card ideas! While I love the cards that the kit makes, it really was so easy to incorporate other products that I already have on hand! Stay tuned as I have two more alternatives to share with you next time!
