Broadway Bound One Sheet Wonder!

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are made from a single sheet of Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! What makes it a specialty paper? The Gold Foil!! So, for each sheet of this DSP, one side is a regular design and the other has gold foil in the design!! I don’t know about you, but I make and send birthday cards all year long to family and friends, so with the new catalog launch it was time to get a new birthday stamp set and designer paper. I chose the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and Broadway Bound DSP and think they work together great! Yes, I know that there is a coordinating stamp and dies for the DSP, but I wanted something different!

So as I set out to create some birthday cards, I thought I would try something different, decided on “one sheet wonder”, went on Pinterest, and found this particular layout from Traci Cornelius. I’m not gonna lie, when started cutting the DSP I almost started panicking! Was I doing this right? Is the paper facing the right way? How am I going to make cards out of all these pieces?? What was I thinking?? After taking a deep, cleansing breath and confirming the DSP was facing the right way (we’ve all done it, cut the DSP design in the wrong direction), I continued cutting the DSP. Here is the layout and I also made a template on a leftover piece of cardboard:

I wanted to make a template that I could easily refer back to and not try to remember where I found it at. Below is a picture of each card I made, inside and out, with a brief description:

The card base is Basic Black cardstock (4 ¼” x 11”)

The base layer is Lovely Lipstick cardstock (4” x 5 ¼”) and embossed with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF

The DSP is 3 ½” x 5”, adhered to the base layer and a piece of Basic Black Satin Ribbon is tied in a bow around the middle

The sentiment is embossed in Black Embossing Powder, cut out with the Tailored Tag Punch, Black Metallic Thread (retired) is adhered to the back, and then popped up with dimensionals

The inside sentiment is stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and Lovely Lipstick inks

These two cards are basically the same, except the base layer on the left is Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, cut at 5 ½”x 8”, and the card on the right is Lovely Lipstick cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”

The base layer is Lemon Lime Twist/Lovely Lipstick cardstock, 4” x 5 ¼”, and is embossed with the Striped Scallops TIEF

I used the 3 ½” x 3 ½” and the 1 ½” x 3 ½” DSP, the smaller is trimmed with the Banner Triple Punch

The balloons are in Gold Foil, Lovely Lipstick, and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using the Balloon Bouquet Punch, Happy Birthday is in Gold Embossing Powder, a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is tied on each balloon, and then use a large Gold Faceted Gem to adhere the twine together

The inside sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick and Lemon Lime Twist ink, the balloon on the side is from the Balloon Celebration stamp set

The base layer is Gold Foil Sheet, 4” x 5 ¼”, which I layered the two 1 ½” x 5” and the 2” x 5” pieces of DSP

A piece of Black Satin Ribbon is adhered around the middle of the DSP/base layer piece, the sentiment is heat embossed in Black Embossing Powder, cut out with the Everyday Label Punch, popped up with dimensionals, and then three of the gold candles from the Candle Embellishments are adhered to the ribbon

The card base is Lovely Lipstick cardstock, 4 ¼” x 11”

The base layer is Gray Granite cardstock, 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Simple Stripes TIEF, I used the debossed side for this card

The “present” is created with the 2” x 2 ½” and 2 ½” x 3 ½” pieces of DSP. The bow is created with the Black Satin Ribbon and popped up with dimensionals. The sequins are the Pearl White Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins

The inside sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist, and Gray Granite inks

This final card is an Angle Fold Over Card, the base is Gray Granite cardstock

The base layer is Lovely Lipstick cardstock, 4” x 5 ¼”, and cut diagonally. The diagonal 3 ½” x 5” DSP is layered on the cardstock and then adhered to the card base.

I used the leftover pieces of DSP, Gold Foil Sheet, Whisper White cardstock to cut the circles, 2 ½” (Layering Circles), 2 ¼”, 2”, 1 ¾”, 1 ½”, and 1 ¼” Circle Punches. The sentiment is heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder and the rest is stamped in Basic Black, Lovely Lipstick, and Lemon Lime Twist inks. A piece of Black Satin Ribbon is tied in a bow and adhered with glue dots. The biggest and smallest circles are popped up with dimensional on the top flap and the other circle is adhered with tear tape on the bottom flap

The inside sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist, and Gray Granite inks

Can you believe ONE sheet of DSP made 7 cards?? Since 99.5% of my cards are mailed, I tried to not make them too elaborate that you couldn’t just stick them in an envelope! So, just cutting some DSP and getting out of your “comfort zone of creativity” can be fun! Stay tuned for my next blog post, I am going to find another 12” x 12” one sheet wonder design for more birthday cards!!
