Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a lovely quick and easy birthday card featuring the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper! With less than two weeks left for the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, it’s time to get busy and creative with products that are retiring. The Expressions in Ink DSP, Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack, and 2021-2022 In Color Jewels are all on the retirement list and will soon be gone forever, so let’s give them some attention! This easy card is great for any occasion when paired with the sentiments from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, but I chose to replenish my birthday card stash and use one sheet from the Expressions in Ink DSP for six cards!
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Expressions in Ink DSP, cut into six 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and six ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Stamp the sentiment in Magenta Madness ink on Basic White cardstock and die-cut out with the third smallest Layering Circles Dies. Note-since I made multiples, I first die-cut the circles and then used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment.
2. From Gold Foil Sheet, use the swirly frame to die-cut out. The above sentiment will be layered on this.
3. Use enough of the Just Jade gingham ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack to tie around the DSP base layer into a knot.
4. You will need three of the 4mm Polished Pink Jewels from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels, not pictured.
To assemble the card front, first tie the ribbon into a knot around the base layer DSP, adhere the layered die-cuts over the ribbon with dimensionals, and add the three jewels around the sentiment as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Magenta Madness cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Magenta Madness ink, and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the left side as shown:
For the coordinating Basic White envelope, I used the background stamp from Painted Poppies in Polished Pink ink (stamping off twice first) and the large poppy stamp in Magenta Madness ink in the bottom corner:
With this beautiful design from the Expressions in Ink DSP, just add a sentiment and embellishments for a quick and easy card! I originally was going to use Just Jade cardstock for the card base, but then I saw how much Magenta Madness cardstock I have and decided to use this up instead, so Just Jade is also a great color to use! While I am definitely NOT going to be able to use up my DSP from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog before it all retires, at least that is one sheet down! Lol Aaaand, since I hardly used the gingham ribbon, I have just enough left over for one more card! So, that’s kind of a win, right?? lol
