A fat free & sugar free Valentine’s Day Card!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun slimline Valentine’s Day card featuring the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set, Love You More Than Dies, and Dandy Designs 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper! The inspiration for this card is the heart shaped candy boxes that are out in the stores this time of year and the Heart Punch Pack are perfect for re-creating these candy boxes. Of course, the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set and coordinating Love You More Than Dies make this possible to easily make the chocolate for these cute little heart shaped candy boxes! While you could easily make your own DSP for the card front base layer, I chose a simple design from the Dandy Designs DSP that worked perfectly for this card!

The base layer for the card front is this design from the Dandy Designs DSP, cut at 3 ½” x 8 ½”:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. On Thick Basic White cardstock, I used Light Pale Papaya, SU400, and SU200 Stampin’ Blends to color the cardstock and then used the “chocolate” die to die-cut out.

2. On Basic White cardstock, use the chocolates stamp to stamp three times in Early Espresso ink and use the Light Pale Papaya, SU400, and SU200 Stampin’ Blends to color in (for white, milk, and dark chocolate) and used the coordinating die to die-cut out. I used my Wink of Stella pen over the chocolates and placed a 4mm Rhinestone Basic Jewel that I colored with a Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends on one of each chocolate die-cut.

3. You will need four gold foil scalloped hearts using the large, scalloped heart punch.

4. You will need four Real Red hearts using the smaller, regular heart punch. On three of the hearts, I used the X and the O from the Alphabest stamp set to randomly stamp in Real Red ink. For the fourth heart, I first inked the sentiment with Versamark ink, then Early Espresso ink to stamp on the heart and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

5. You will need about a 10 ½” piece of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim, which I tied a knot towards the right end, making sure that I have enough to wrap the end of the trim around to the back to be adhered.

To assemble the card front, I first adhered the punched heart layers together, adhered the die-cut chocolates to the middle of three, and adhered the die-cut chocolate word to the fourth as shown. I placed the trim along the bottom portion of the DSP base layer, adhering the trim ends to the back of the DSP, adhered the hearts across the DSP as shown, and adhered the DSP base layer to an Early Espresso cardstock card base, cut at 7 ½” x 8 ¾” and scored at 3 ¾”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3 ½” x 8 ½”, stamp the sentiment from Country Bouquet in Real Red ink, stamp the chocolates stamp along the bottom in Early Espresso ink, and color in with Light Pale Papaya, SU400, and SU200 Stampin’ Blends:

For the coordinating envelope, I used a white Slimline Envelope and stamped the chocolates three times in Early Espresso ink:

How cute is this Valentine’s Day card?? This is a great way to “repurpose” a stamp set from the annual catalog! If you do not have a “Happy Valentine’s Day” stamp, you can always handwrite that in, with your greeting of course, and if you do not have the Natural Tones Blends, Ivory, Bronze, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede are great substitutions!
