Coffee….because adulting is hard

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a cute take on “adulting” with the Nothing’s Better Than Bundle! When I first saw this bundle in the annual catalog and one of the sentiments “because adulting is hard”, I chuckled to myself because I really do have a t-shirt that says, “Coffee…because adulting is hard!”. So, that is my inspiration for today’s card! I personally enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning (or two!) and there are some days that I can definitely use a sweet caffeine pick me up!

For the base layer, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. I first lightly sponged Pumpkin Pie ink (you can use a Stampin’ Sponge or Sponge Dauber) in the middle of the cardstock, stamped the cup and steam in Early Espresso ink, and stamped the coffee in Cinnamon Cider ink:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. Use a piece of Adhesive Sheet on the back of a Copper Foil Sheet piece and use the Coffee die to cut out.

2. Use the fourth smallest Stitched Nested Labels die to cut out of Early Espresso cardstock.

3. Use enough of the Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim to tie into a bow around the base layer.

4. Using my Stamparatus and the “hinge step technique”, I stamped the cup in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I lined up the solid second step stamp with the cup and stamped in Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, and Cinnamon Cider inks, but first placing a scrap piece of paper to “stamp off” before stamping onto the Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the coordinating die to cut out the cups.

Assembling the card front is easy, I tied the suede trim along the bottom of the cardstock, adhered the die cut Coffee to the middle of the Stitched Nested Label die-cut, adhered that to the base layer as shown, and then adhered the coffee cups with dimensionals as shown:

This completed base layer is adhered to a Cinnamon Cider cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ½”, stamp the sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink, the little star in Pumpkin Pie ink, the cup and steam in Early Espresso ink, and the solid fill in stamp for the cup in Cinnamon Cider ink, stamping off first:

Isn’t this an adorable card? This is perfect for any occasion for those coffee drinkers in your life! Fun tip-the cup works perfectly with the “hinge step” technique if you want to create your own background with the Stamparatus or if you are just stamping a few times and want the both stamps lined up, they are spaced far enough apart that you can die cut them and not have any overlapping cuts! Also, if you have a Tea drinker in your life, you can use the “ate” from the “chocolate” die to create “tea”!
