Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a beautiful holiday card featuring the Heartfelt Wishes stamp set, Christmas Season Bundle, and the Painted Christmas 12” x 12” DSP! Sometimes we may need holiday cards aside from Christmas, so I thought I would show you how you can make one of these cards using a few products from the Painted Christmas Suite! Or maybe you just want to make a card in non-traditional Christmas colors? Using the color combination from the DSP design makes this super easy to do!
Again, I made six of these cards, which you can make one or all six. The base layer is Soft Succulent cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I chose this design from the Painted Christmas DSP and first cut a 2” strip off the bottom and then cut the 12” x 10” DSP into six 3 ¾” x 5” layers. This will leave you with one 2” x 12” and one ¾” x 10” strips, which you will put aside for another card:
For the card front, you will need:
1. Using the Be Dazzling 6” x 6” Specialty Paper (this is from SAB, but is now retired), cut a 3 ½” x 6” piece, cut into 1” strips along the 6” side (for six 1” x 3 ½” strips), and then use the squared side of the Lovely Label Pick a Punch to punch each end. *Note-since this is retired and if you do not currently have this, you can substitute Early Espresso cardstock.
2. From Basic White cardstock, cut six ¾” x 3” strips, use your Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment from Heartfelt Wishes in Evening Evergreen ink, and use the squared side of the Lovely Label Pick a Punch to punch each end. This will be adhered on top of the above piece.
3. I used the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon to make a double bow, making six total.
4. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the pine tree needles stamp once each in Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, and Soft Sea Foam inks, and use the coordinating die to die-cut out. You will have six in each color for a total of eighteen.
5. On Basic White cardstock, you will use the small pinecone two-step stamps to stamp in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink and using the coordinating die to die-cut out. You will have a total of six die-cut pinecones.
6. From the Matte Decorative Dots, you will use one of the lightest Old Olive, lightest Evening Evergreen, and darkest Evening Evergreen, not pictured.
I used liquid glue to adhere the sentiment to the Be Dazzled paper and to adhere one of each color of the die-cut pine tree needles. Adhere the layered sentiment piece to the DSP layer, the die-cut pinecone as shown, and use a glue dot to adhere the Soft Succulent double bow as shown. The DSP layer is adhered to the Soft Succulent cardstock base layer, which is then adhered to an Early Espresso cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”. I then placed one each of the Matte Decorative Dots randomly in the middle of the pinecone boughs, you can use any size:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment from Heartfelt Wishes in Evening Evergreen ink, and in the bottom left corner, stamp the pine tree needles in Soft Sea Foam ink three times and then stamp the small pinecone in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks:
For the coordinating envelope, I stamped the pine tree needles and pinecone the same way as I did for the inside of the card:
Now you have six cards and envelopes ready for whatever holiday season you want to use them for! Now, about that Be Dazzling paper…I have a whole bunch of it to use up, because when I saw it in the last SAB brochure, it just “screamed” Christmas cards to me! So, while I feel a little guilty that I didn’t get to really use it during SAB, I’m going to make up for it with my holiday cards! So when I so use the Be Dazzling paper, I will give you an alternative to use if you do not have this!
