Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which features the Lots of Heart Bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper! Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, it’s time to start making cards to send to family and friends! Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day cards do not always have to be romantic or have a romantic theme! When choosing what kind of cards I wanted to make, I chose the Lots of Heart Bundle because the stamp set and dies can be used for any number of occasions beyond Valentine’s Day! I also purchased the True Love DSP (love the b&w), the Love you Always Foil Sheets, and the Love You Always Specialty DSP, which I can use all three of these papers beyond Valentine’s Day cards!
For the base layer, use this design from the True Love DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” (vertical):
For the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 1” x 4 ½” strip of Basic Black cardstock, place a piece of adhesive sheet on the back, and use the swirly heart die to die-cut out.
2. Place a piece of adhesive sheet on the back of a piece of Gold Foil sheet and use the heart outline die to die-cut out. Note-you will also get another die-cut heart from the middle of the die-cut paper, you can use that for another card!
3. On Flirty Flamingo cardstock, stamp the dotted heart stamp in Flirty Flamingo ink and use the coordinating die to die-cut out.
4. On Real Red cardstock, stamp the swirly heart stamp in Real Red ink and die-cut out with the coordinating die. Tip-I used my Stamparatus to stamp the image as I needed to ink and stamp the stamp twice to get a good stamped image.
5. Cut a ½” x 3” piece of Basic Black cardstock, heat emboss the sentiment in White Embossing Powder, and use the Banners Pick a Punch.
6. Cut a ¾” x 3 ¼” piece of Real Red cardstock and use the Banners Pick a Punch, this will be layered under the embossed sentiment piece from above.
7. You will need the Whisper White twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack to wrap around the layered sentiment piece three times and tie into a knot.
I used dimensionals to adhere the layered sentiment piece along the bottom first and then removed the adhesive backing of the swirly heart die-cut to adhere across the DSP base layer. Since the die-cut cardstock has a little give, I tried to keep as much of the ends on the DSP base layer and trimmed off the excess piece that stuck out from the bottom:
To intertwine the two large hearts, I used adhesive on the back of the Real Red heart, layered the gold foil outline die-cut, removed the backing from the gold foil outline die-cut, and placed over the swirly heart die-cut. The Flirty Flamingo die-cut heart is adhered off set with dimensionals:
This completed piece is adhered to a Real Red cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” z x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Real Red ink, stamp the small heart in Flirty Flamingo ink twice (first and second generation stamping), and adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of DSP (same as the card front) along the bottom:
Here is an alternative for the inside, using a Valentine’s Day sentiment instead (this is from Forever Lovely, which is a retired stamp set):
To give you some fun alternatives for the front, I heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, Gilded Leafing, and stamped the buffalo check heart in Memento ink:
