Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a sweet Valentine’s Day card for a special friend featuring the Love You Always Specialty DSP and Love You Always Foil Sheets! First, I have to say, OMG! Both of these papers are stunning! They both come in Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose, and Sahara Sand, but I have to say the Rococo Rose is my favorite! It’s like Merry Merlot and Rococo Rose combined to create their own color! Good thing there are four sheets of this color in the specialty DSP pack, I want it all! Lol I just love how it compliments Merry Merlot and this fun and easy Valentine’s Day card will be sure to put a smile on your friend’s face!!
To create the base layer, cut a 2” x 5 ¼ “piece of the Rococo Rose Love You Always Specialty DSP and a 2 ½” x 5 5/16” piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, which is embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. Tip-since the cardstock will “shrink” with the embossing, I cut the cardstock slightly longer, the first line after the 5 ¼” mark on your trimmer. I used a thin line of liquid glue on the back of the specialty DSP to adhere to the embossed cardstock, making the base layer measure 4” x 5 ¼”:
For the card front, you will need:
1. Use the large heart from the Many Hearts Dies to die-cut from Merry Merlot cardstock.
2. Use the medium heart from the Many Hearts Dies to die-cut from Merry Merlot cardstock.
3. Use the detailed heart from the Many Hearts Dies to die-cut from Sahara Sand Foil Sheet, place a piece of adhesive sheet on the back first.
4. Use the medium heart from the Many Hearts Dies to die-cut from Sahara Sand cardstock and stamp the sentiment from the Heartfelt stamp set in Merry Merlot ink.
5. Cut a 6” piece of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim.
6. Use two 4mm and one 5mm Matte Black Dots, not pictured.
Remove the adhesive backing from the Sahara Sand foil die-cut to adhere to the large Merry Merlot die-cut heart and place the two 4mm Matte Black Dots in the center of the small foil flowers and the 5mm Matte Black Dot in the center of the large foil flower. Adhere the Sahara Sand die-cut heart with the sentiment off-set from the Merry Merlot die-cut heart as shown:
Adhere the faux suede ribbon over the middle where the embossed cardstock and specialty DSP meet and use dimensionals to adhere the die-cut hearts as shown:
This completed piece is adhered to a Merry Merlot cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
I have a few variations of the inside for you, first cut a piece of Very Vanilla at 4” x 5 ¼” (vertical) and stamp the sentiment in Merry Merlot ink. You can adhere a ¾” x 4” strip of the specialty DSP along the side and stamp the small heart in Rococo Rose ink, stamp the arrows along each side in Rococo Rose ink, or stamp the small heart in each corner in Rococo Rose ink:
Isn’t this a super sweet Valentine’s Day card?? I made six of these cards from cutting one 5 ¼” x 12” piece of the specialty DSP and cutting it down again at 2” along the 12” side and adding the embossed cardstock to make a full 4” x 5 ¼” base layer! This is an easy way to make your DSP “go farther”!
