September Paper Pumpkin Alternative-Part 1

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are two alternative ideas for the September 2018 Paper Pumpkin, Frights & Delights! I could not wait to get this Paper Pumpkin just so I could create some alternative Halloween cards! This kit is absolutely adorable and these first two alternatives are quick and easy!

To make the ghost card, start with Basic Black cardstock for the base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_28f6

The base layer is from the Toil & Trouble DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_28f9

The next layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 3 ¾” x 5”:

fullsizeoutput_28fc

I used the “boo!” stamp from the PP kit on the Whisper White cardstock with my Stamparatus and the “hinge-step” technique in Gorgeous Grape, Lemon Lime Twist, Mango Melody, and Memento inks:

Cut a piece of the Black Satin Ribbon long enough to go around the front of the card and use one of the ghost die cuts, adhering the silver foil piece. Adhere the ribbon across the front and then use a dimensional to adhere the ghost to the ribbon:

Adhere the top cardstock to the DSP and then adhere to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_28ff

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, the “spooky” is one of the laser-cut stickers, the moon and stars are in Pineapple Punch ink, the sentiment is in Gorgeous Grape ink, and I used the ghost outline from the die cut sheet and sponged Smoky Slate ink:

To make the graveyard card, start with Granny Apple Green cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and score at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2905

The base layer is from the Toil & Trouble DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2908

To make the headstones, I cut three of the tags from the PP at the score line and used a Sponge Brayer with Smoky Slate ink, use the Spooky Bat Punch with the Black Foil Sheets to punch out the bats, and the hill is created with Basic Black cardstock using the die from the In the Woods Framelits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_290b

The bats are adhered with Mini Dimensionals to the headstones and then I stamped the RIP in Basic Gray ink using letters from the Make a Difference stamp set. These are then adhered to the DSP and the hill is adhered on top:

The DSP is then adhered to the card base and I stamped the outside sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink on Whisper White cardstock, punched out with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, layered this on the Gorgeous Grape piece punched out with the 1 ½” Circle Punch, and adhered with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_291d

The inside sentiment is on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the bats from Spooky Sweets stamp set in Memento ink several times to make the bats very dark and then I used my Black Stampin’ Write Pen to color in the lines. The sentiment is also from this stamp set, stamped in Granny Apple Green ink:

Aren’t those easy alternatives?? The idea for the headstones actually was inspired by a card that I saw on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club Facebook page! If you missed this month’s kit and are a current subscriber, you can purchase the kit (and refills!) from my online store! Stay tuned for my next post for two more alternatives!

Broadway Bound One Sheet Wonder-Part 3

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which are another “one sheet wonder” from a 12” x 12” Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper! If you’ve been following along, the previous two posts feature cards made from layouts on Pinterest, but today I made my own layout. I tried looking for something that had a combination of vertical and horizontal cuts, along with not very many little cuts, but didn’t find one that I liked, so I figured I would give it a try! It really wasn’t that difficult and I was able to make 8 cards out it!

Below is a picture of the sheet of DSP that I used and the template that I made. Wondering what the template is? Would you believe that it is the cardboard that is from the Foil Sheets?! These are slightly bigger than 12” x 12”, so I mark the cardboard when making the measurements. This can also be cut down to make smaller templates!

For You

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper and Make a Difference stamp set! When I set out to create this card, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to practice with the Make a Difference stamp set. This is a wonderful set to create and personalize your card if you don’t quite have what you are looking for!

The card base is Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_21f5

Next, I cut a piece of this DSP from the Animal Expedition DSP at 4” x 5 ¼” and then 2 ¼” from the 4” side. I used the other side of the DSP for the smaller piece and then trimmed it down to 4 ½”, so you will have a piece 1 ¾” x 4 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_21f9fullsizeoutput_21fc

Cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist to 1” x 4 ¼” and then emboss with the Climbing Vine Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_21ff

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, use the letters to stamp the sentiment in Berry Burst ink, and then cut out with the 2nd largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

fullsizeoutput_2202

Layer the DSP on the card base and then adhere the embossed cardstock across:

fullsizeoutput_2205fullsizeoutput_2208fullsizeoutput_220b

After I adhered the sentiment with dimensionals, I felt like the card still needed a little something, so I used the leaf die from the Animal Friends Thinlits to cut out one in Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst cardstocks. To me, this really helps tie in the colors with the DSP:

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock, stamping the letters in Berry Burst ink, using the balloon stamps from the Balloon Celebration stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist and Shaded Spruce ink, and then adhering a piece of the DSP that is ¾” x 4”:

fullsizeoutput_2214fullsizeoutput_2217

What I really like about this card, is the way to use Designer Series Paper that has coordinating stamps and dies, but not use them to create something different! This is only the second time that I have used the Make a Difference stamp set, but personally I find it easier to stamp each individual letter and just haven’t been able to master them with the Stamparatus. The best tip I can give is make sure you have some extra A, B, and G blocks on hand and you can use one letter on each side.

Thank you, Big Time

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper! Recently I shared this stunning paper on my business Facebook page, so this week I am going to share with you a few cards that I’ve created using this paper! This is a quick and easy card, which comes in handy when you are limited on time.  You can also make a few of these to have on hand and use any sentiment!

fullsizeoutput_206d

The card base is Mossy Meadow cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2073

The base layer is Petal Pink cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and is embossed with the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder:

fullsizeoutput_2076

For this sheet of the DSP, I trimmed the pieces down and chose the pink roses. I then used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners:

fullsizeoutput_2070

The sentiment is from the Animal Outing stamp set, which I heat embossed in Copper Embossing Powder:

fullsizeoutput_2079

Using the 5/8” Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon in Whisper White, wrap around the Petal Pink cardstock and tie into a bow. I placed a Mini Glue Dot behind the bow to secure to the cardstock:

fullsizeoutput_207c

The DSP is then adhered on the left side with Stampin’ Dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_207f

The card base is then adhered to the card base with more Stampin’ Dimensionals and I added some Pearl Basic Jewels to the middle of the roses:

fullsizeoutput_2082

The inside sentiment is on Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. I used the Make a Difference stamp set for the letters in Mossy Meadow ink and the flower I used the Mossy Meadow and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers:

fullsizeoutput_2085fullsizeoutput_2088

This is the first time I have used the Make a Difference stamp set, which wasn’t too terribly hard! I did use clear blocks to stamp instead of my Stamparatus, so I do suggest that you purchase extra “A” and “G” Clear Blocks if you haven’t already. This just makes it easier to have all your letters on the block before you start stamping, instead of cleaning and removing each one. You can also place a letter on each side of the block (in the corner or end), so you can have two letters on one block! I definitely will be experimenting with this set and my Stamparatus! The benefit of the Make a Difference stamp set is that you can create your own saying, such as I did for the inside of this card, and you can personalize it with the recipient’s name!
