Sweet Little Ladybug Thank You card!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and sweet card featuring the Little Ladybug stamp set and coordinating Ladybug Dies! So, how many of you have a stamp set that you just fell in love with, but when you started using it, you fell out of love? Yeah, that’s how I am with the Bokeh Dots stamp set, lol! I ordered this stamp set when it first came out, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t seem to like what I was trying to use it for or with. As I was sitting at my desk with the Little Ladybug stamp set in my hand and looking at my background stamps for ideas, I thought why not try the Bokeh Dots stamp set? Then I started thinking of ideas, layouts, and colors, and before I know it, I had this super cute thank you card!

The base layer is Crumb Cake cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and is embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. Before I embossed the cardstock, I used my Crumb Cake ink pad and “dragged” it across the embossing folder, leaving some areas lighter or darker (less or more ink) to give the embossed cardstock a little more depth:

For the front of the card, you will need:

1. Stamp just to top of the flower in Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock three times and cut out with the coordinating die. You will use a Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to color in the middle and then use a little Wink of Stella.

2. On Whisper White cardstock, stamp the Bokeh Dots stamp in Balmy Blue ink and cut out with the fourth largest layering Stitched Rectangle Die. Use the stitched loop die, starting from the upper left corner.

3. Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink and cut out using the 1 3/8” Scallop Circle Punch. Use the 1 ½” Circle Punch to cut out a piece in Calypso Coral cardstock, this will be layered under the sentiment.

4. Stamp the flying ladybug on Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink, color the inner edge of the wings and body with Light Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and then color in the rest with Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends, fill in the backside with just Light Calypso Coral and the face with the Ivory Stampin’ Blends. This is cut out with the coordinating die and use a bit of Wink of Stella on the wings.

I first adhered the stitched rectangle layer on the base layer, making sure it was more towards the top, and then adhered the ladybug at the end of the stitched loop:

Adhere the first flower top in the middle of the stitched layer and then adhere the two other flower tops on each side with dimensionals. The sentiment is adhered on top of the embossed base layer and stitched layer:

This completed piece is adhered to a Calypso Coral cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment and ladybug in Memento ink, and color the ladybug in the same way as you did the ladybug on the front of the card:

I just thought this card turned out so stinking cute! I originally stamped the Bokeh Dots in Daffodil Delight ink, but I really didn’t like how that looked, so then I tried it in Balmy Blue and loved it! I think I realized that the issue I have with Bokeh Dots, is not the stamps themselves, but my point of view and what I like/don’t like and using the Stitched Rectangle Dies helped with that. It just goes to show you, take out those unused and neglected stamp sets every so often and see if you can create something fun! Maybe now you may have other products that will pair nicely with them! lol
