Mix it up Monday!

Hello and welcome to Mix it up Monday! Today I am mixing a whole lot of creativeness to make this awesome display case picture! I was inspired to make this as a follow up to the Father’s Day Blog Hop card from Saturday, if you missed it, you can see it here. Please note, this 8” x 10” display case picture frame is not sold by Stampin’ Up!

I first started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 5” x 7”:

fullsizeoutput_1daf

I masked the bottom half of the cardstock at 4”:

fullsizeoutput_1db2

The sun stamp is from the High Tide stamp set in Pineapple Punch ink:

fullsizeoutput_1db5

The sun stamp from Lilypad Lake is only a ring image, so I used that in Crushed Curry ink around the Pineapple Punch sun:

fullsizeoutput_1db8

I used a Sponge Brayer in Crushed Curry ink across the mask line (yes, I forgot to mask the sun, however, I will show you what I did later):

fullsizeoutput_1dbb

For the rest of the sunset coloring, I used sponges in Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Poppy Parade, Merry Merlot, and Night of Navy:

How if fixed the mistake with the sun, is I used the sun stamp from High Tide again and stamped it twice in Crushed Curry ink:

fullsizeoutput_1df8

I removed the mask from the bottom of the sunset and repositioned it to cover the sunset:

fullsizeoutput_1dcd

The shoreline was created by using the lighthouse ground cover stamp from High Tide in Sahara Sand ink and then I used a Sponge Brayer in Sahara Sand to fill in:

To create the water, start with a Sponge Brayer and Blueberry Bushel ink, and you will want to get a concentration of ink towards the sunset line:

fullsizeoutput_1dd6

Next, you will use another Sponge Brayer and Night of Navy ink to make the water even darker. I really like combining these two colors together for this water look, I sampled these on a piece of scratch paper to first see if I just wanted one of the blues by themselves or to combine them together:

fullsizeoutput_1dd9

When I removed the mask I didn’t quite like the abrupt line between the water and the sunset, so I used the Sponge Brayer with Blueberry Bushel in and carefully went along that line to try and soften it up:

To create the sun reflection on the water, I used this little stamp from High Tide and Whisper White Craft ink:

fullsizeoutput_1de2

I filled in the rest of the water using the wave stamp from High Tide and Whisper White Craft ink. My craft ink is very juicy, so I stamped off on a piece of scrap paper and then stamped the image on the cardstock 2 or 3 more times before inking again and repeating the process:

fullsizeoutput_1de5

Using Basic Black cardstock, cut out these images using the Lakeside Framelit Dies. The sailboat framelit from this set cuts out two boats together and then a small one, so I positioned the cardstock so it would only cut out this small sailboat:

fullsizeoutput_1de8

The images are then positioned and adhered with Glue Dots:

fullsizeoutput_1deb

Since I wasn’t sure which Designer Series Paper I wanted to use, I waited until the previous part was complete and then chose this DSP from Nature’s Poem DSP and trimmed it down to 8” x 10”:

fullsizeoutput_1dee

I used Multipurpose Glue to adhere the cardstock to the DSP so I would have time to reposition if needed and to ensure it stays adhered to the DSP since the glass from the frame is not right on top of it:

fullsizeoutput_1df1

To complete the project, place in the display frame:

I thought this was a great follow up for a Father’s Day gift to go along with the card or you can even make a card with these instructions, just us a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”.

fullsizeoutput_1da4

Hello and welcome to the May’s Stamp It Groups Blog Hop and Giveaway! This month’s theme is Father’s Day and this Gate Fold Card is made with a combination of new products that will be available June 1st in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. I hope you are excited as I am for the new catalog and enjoy the card I am sharing with you today!

The card base is Mint Macaron cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 2 1/8” on each end:

fullsizeoutput_1d83

The first two panels are from the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper, cut at 2 1/8” x 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_1d86

The second set of panels are Tranquil Tide cardstock, cut at 2” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:

fullsizeoutput_1d89

To make the window piece, I used the largest and third largest squares from the Layering Squares Framelit Dies on a piece of Tranquil Textures DSP, the largest square for the window sheet, and the third largest for the Whisper White cardstock:

fullsizeoutput_1d74

The shoreline along the top is from the Waterfront stamp set in Sahara Sand ink and the waves are from the Lilypad Lake stamp set in Tranquil Tide and Soft Sea Foam inks:

fullsizeoutput_1d77

On a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the heron in Gray Granite ink, the lilypad and sailboat are stamped in Memento ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. These are all cut out using the coordinating Lakeside Framelit Dies. The Window Sheet is adhered to the DSP frame with Tear & Tape Adhesive:

fullsizeoutput_1d7a

These are then adhered to the square and I trimmed part of the heron off. The sentiment is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped in Tranquil Tide ink, the waves from the Lilypad Lake stamp set is stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink, and then cut out using the smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

To complete this card, adhere the embossed Tranquil Tide cardstock panels to the Tranquil Textures DSP panels, and then adhere to the Mint Macaron card base:

fullsizeoutput_1d8c

Before adhering the scene to the right side panel of the card, you will have to trim a little off the right side because the window frame will be adhered to the left side panel with Foam Adhesive Strips and you will need to allow for this:

fullsizeoutput_1d8f

I placed a strip from the Foam Adhesive Strips on the left side only, this will allow the card to close properly. The sentiment is then adhered with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_1d92

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink. For the scene along the bottom, I first stamped the sailboats in Memento ink, masked them, and then used the wave stamp in Tranquil Tide and Soft Sea Foam inks. The sailboats are colored in with Stampin’ Blends and the grass is in Tranquil Tide and Mint Macaron cardstocks from the Lakeside Framelits Dies:

Paper Pumpkin Manly Moments Alternative Cards

Hello and welcome to my two day Paper Pumpkin special, featuring May 2018 Manly Moments! Yesterday I shared what was in the kit and the two cards from the instructions, but today I am sharing the FOUR alternatives that I made! You know it’s an awesome Paper Pumpkin when the alternative ideas flow!!

For my first alternative, I changed around the die-cut stickers and the laser-cut element. The rest of the card is made using the Lily Pad Lake stamp set and the Lakeside Framelits Dies, the sailboats are colored in with Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers, and the sun is in So Saffron ink. The inside is stamped in Soft Seafoam and Gray Granite inks:

My second alternative is using the trifold card from the kit, the end pieces are cut off for the front of the card, the leftover Whisper White cardstock is used for the inside, and the card base is in Crumb Cake cardstock. I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set, Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies, Nature’s Twine in Grapefruit Grove, and Garden Green, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake inks:

fullsizeoutput_1ceffullsizeoutput_1cf2

My third alternative is similar to the above, however I trimmed the end pieces from the trifold card to equal 4” x 5 ¼”, a strip of Silver Foil (1/2” x 4”) and adhered to a 4 ¼” x 11” Blackberry Bliss cardstock base. The white foil die cut is colored in Sahara Sand ink with a Sponge Brayer, the sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink, the leaves are from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Gray Granite ink on Whisper White cardstock, punched out with the Tailored Tag Punch and the elements are from the stamp set and the coordinating framelits, with the bow from Nature’s Twine. The inside is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and Gray Granite inks:

My four alternative uses the Waterfront stamp set, which will be available in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog if you missed it from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. I cut the Crumb Cake die-cut sticker in half, the top is used for the mountains and the bottom is used for the shoreline. The mountains from the stamp set is stamped in Early Espresso ink, the water is stamped and sponged in Soft Sea Foam ink, the trees and the houses are stamped in Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso inks (fussy cut out), the clouds are heat embossed in White Embossing Powder and the sun is stamped in So Saffron and Versamark inks, heat embossed in Clear Embossing Powder. The inside is stamped in Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso inks:
