Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a super quick and easy Valentine’s Day card featuring the Country Bouquet stamp set and the Country Gingham 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper! When I was deciding on today’s card, I challenged myself to make a card in 30 minutes or less, which may seem easy, but when you are designing a card from scratch, not so much. I eliminated using dies and embossing folders, which left me with punches to use along with ribbon and embellishments to add some fun detail to the card. Since I decided on a Sweet Sorbet design from the Country Gingham 6” x 6” DSP, I chose to use the Sweet Sorbet baker’s twine from the 2022-2024 In Colors Baker’s Twine, Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels, Wink of Stella, heat embossing, and use one of the Hearts Punch Pack to add some detail to the corners of the cardstock. With these little added details, you can quickly take your stamped images for your card front up a notch!
The base layer for the card front is this design from the Country Gingham 6” x 6” DSP, which I cut into a 4” x 6” piece and cut again into a 4” x 5 ¼” base layer and ¾” x 4” strip for the inside of the card. I’m not using the remaining 2” x 6” piece.
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 4 ¼” x 3” piece of Basic Black cardstock.
2. Cut a 4” x 2 ¾” piece of Basic White cardstock, use Granny Apple Green ink to stamp the large heart with leaves and Sweet Sorbet ink to stamp second step flowers and hearts stamp. I used Wink of Stella on the stamped flowers, placed six 3mm Iridescent Pearls in the center of six flowers, and stamped the small solid and small outline double heart stamps in Sweet Sorbet ink. *There is a little dot of Sweet Sorbet ink, not sure how that happened, but the sentiment will cover this, so I left it. I then used the regular heart punch to place each corner in the “v” of the heart to punch out.
3. Cut a 1” x 2 ½” piece of Basic Black cardstock, heat emboss the sentiment with White Embossing Powder, and use the Banner Pick a Punch on each end.
4. Use enough of the Sweet Sorbet Baker’s Twine to fold in half and tie into a double bow, trimming the ends.
To assemble the card front, adhere the stamped Basic White cardstock onto the Basic Black cardstock layer, adhere this to the middle of the DSP base layer, use dimensionals to adhere the embossed sentiment, “roll” a glue dot to adhere the baker’s twine double bow, and this completed piece is adhered to a Basic Black cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Sweet Sorbet ink and adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I used the two small heart stamps from the card front to stamp three times in the corner each in Sweet Sorbet ink:
How quick and easy is this card? But it doesn’t look like it!! I could have easily used a retired corner punch (Detailed Trio Punch), but I thought I would use what is current and a different way to use your heart punch! While I love dies and die-cutting, I started getting back into the easy use of punches because I used a bunch of retired punches to make my holiday gift tags!
