Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which kicks off my first “official” card from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog featuring the Inspired Thoughts Bundle! Yesterday, May 4th, the new annual catalog went live for demonstrators and customers and while I am waiting (not so patiently I might add) for my order for all the new goodies to arrive, it’s time to bring out some of the new products that I was able to pre-order in April! The Inspired Thoughts Bundle caught my eye because I really liked the sentiments and the dies can be very versatile, as in seasonal! So, I decided it would be fitting to create a pretty “springtime” themed card since we are having some nice and warm weather here in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States!
For the base layer, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”. I created the background with some basic masking and Blending Brushes. I used Daffodil Delight ink for the sun, which there is a sun die, and Balmy Blue ink for the sky, which was inspired by the annual catalog and the card example on page 52 by using the curve die for the mask:
For the card front, you will need:
1. Cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and position the tree die on the cardstock to die-cut out. I used a Blending Brush with Soft Suede ink around the tree trunks.
2. From Granny Apple Green cardstock, use all four leaf/bush dies to cut out one of each and the curve die for the ground cover, the length is 5 ¼”.
3. From Garden Green cardstock, use the three larger leaf/bush dies to die-cut one of each out.
4. From So Saffron cardstock, use the second from the smallest leaf/bush die to die-cut out two pieces and I used a Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends to make “flowers”.
TIP-You can use the pointed end of your Take Your Pick Tool to “push out” the little die-cuts from the backside to give the leaf/bush die-cuts some more dimension.
I used liquid glue to adhere the die-cut trees to the cardstock base layer and adhered the Granny Apple Green and Garden Green die-cut leaf/bush pieces to the tree tops, alternating colors:
The Granny Apple Green ground cover is adhered along the bottom of the trees and cardstock and the “flower bushes” are adhered as shown (liquid glue):
This completed piece is adhered to a Garden Green cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and stamp the sentiment in Garden Green ink:
How quick and easy was this card?? Can you see all the seasonal possibilities with the Inspiring Canopy Dies?? I actually have an idea for an alternative use for the tree dies, which you would never think to use as! That will be my next card, so be sure to check in next time!
