Stamps, paper, and ink!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun summer themed card featuring the Oceanfront stamp set! Since Summer officially started last week and the Team Stamp It Summer Fun Blog Hop was this last Saturday, I thought I would keep those summer vibes going! Since I already had my mind set that I wanted to so a simple stamping card, the Oceanfront stamp set was the first set that came to mind! Then it just came a matter of what colors I wanted to use, and I thought pairing it with one of the wood grain designs from the Heart & Home DSP would pair nicely! As hard as I tried, I just could not use some sort of embellishment, so to keep it simple, I chose the Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack!

The base layer for the card front is this design from the Heart & Home DSP, first cut at 4” x 6”, cut ¾” off the 6” side, and you will have the 4” x 5 ¼” base layer and the ¾” x 4” strip for the inside of the card:

For the rest of the card front, you will need:

1. Cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 3” x 4 ¼” and using the Oceanfront stamp set, stamp the sky in Balmy Blue ink, the water in Tahitian Tide ink, the shoreline in Sahara Sand ink, the speckled stamp (for “sand) and the large rock in Crumb Cake ink, the smaller double rock in Soft Suede ink, the tall grass in Parakeet Party and Old Olive inks, and the small beach grass in Old Olive ink. I used my Wink of Stella pen on the water to give it that “sparkly” look.

2. Use enough of the Crumb Cake baker’s twine to wrap around the base layer DSP three times and tie into a knot.

I first wrapped the baker’s twine around the DSP base layer, tied into a knot, and spaced the twine out on the left side as shown. I used dimensionals in between the twine to keep in place, used dimensionals in each corner to adhere to the DSP base layer, and this completed piece is adhered to a Tahitian Tide cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and I made this a Thank You card using the sentiment from Inspired Thoughts stamped in Tahitian Tide ink and adhered the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom:

For the coordinating Basic White medium envelope, I stamped the shoreline in Sahara Sand ink, the double rocks in Soft Suede ink, and the tall grass in Parakeet Party and Old Olive inks:

Nice and easy card to make that can be used for a variety of occasions, just use the sentiment you need! If you do not have the Heart & Home DSP, you can substitute with a piece of embossed cardstock! Whether you are limited on time or supplies, you can take your simple stamped card up a notch with just a couple of additional products, like the Wink of Stella and baker’s twine!
