If you are like me, Sale-A-Bration is my favorite time of the year because you earn FREE products with a qualifying order and who doesn’t like free Stampin’ Up! products?? The Home to Roost stamp set is one of the sets that I chose for my SAB rewards and it is quickly becoming my favorite. I really like the font used for the sayings and they can be very versatile for your card making needs.
You will start with a Crumb Cake cardstock base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. I used the Story Label Punch* to punch out the shape at the bottom of the card base (front and back) to give this card a little bit of “character”. *The Story Label Punch coordinates with the Part of My Story stamp set and will be available for purchase on March 1stfor customers and now for demonstrators:
The base layer is a 4” x 4” piece of Early Espresso cardstock and prior to embossing with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, I inked it up with Versamark Ink, embossed the cardstock, and then heat embossed Copper Emboss Powder:
I cut a piece of Vellum Cardstock with the 4th largest Stitched Rectangle Framelits, heat embossed the wheat stamp in Gold Emboss Powder, and then used the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends on the back of the Vellum Cardstock for the ground:
For the rest of the card front, you will use a 3 ½” piece of Burlap Ribbon, trim the ends to look like an arrow, stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut it out with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Framelits, and stamp the rooster in Memento ink on Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, fussy cutting out. For the rooster coloring, I used Light Cajun Craze on the head and Dark Pineapple Punch, Light Pumpkin Pie, and Light and Dark Soft Sued Stampin’ Blends. *TIP-when coloring with multiple Stampin’ Blends, I highly recommend: 1) use thick cardstock and 2) let the layers of color dry. I have found that if I don’t do this, the ink will bleed outside the stamped image:
To adhere the Vellum cardstock to the heat embossed base layer, I used a glue dot in each bottom corner, sponged a thin layer of glue across the back, and used my Fine Tip Glue Pen on the back of the wheat embossed images:
The rooster is then adhered on the vellum with dimensionals, the sentiment is adhered to the Burlap Ribbon with Tear & Tape, and then this piece is adhered to the base layer with Tear & Tape:
This completed piece is adhered to the card base with dimensionals:
For the inside sentiment, I cut a 4” x 4” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamped the sentiment and rooster in Early Espresso ink, and the wheat is stamped in Crumb Cake ink. *TIP-I first stamped the rooster, created a mask by tracing the outline from the sticker sheet, and cut inside the outline. I put the mask on the rooster and then stamped the wheat on top:
