A little note with Home to Roost

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun take on the rooster stamp from Home to Roost! I honestly never thought to use Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and Night of Navy to color a rooster! I’ve seen so many colorful roosters with this stamp set, that I thought “why not??”. Paired with the Bermuda Bay cardstock that I used the Crackle Paint Background stamp to emboss in silver, I thought would be perfect!

The base layer is Bermuda Bay cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed in Silver Embossing Powder with the Crackle Paint Background stamp:

For the rest of the card front, you will need from the Wood Textures 6” x 6” DSP a piece of the white-washed design, cut at 2” x 5 ¼” and the gray-washed design to cut out a circle with the second largest Layering Circles Framelits, a 4” piece of the Whisper White Flax Ribbon, and on Thick Whisper White cardstock, stamp the rooster in Memento ink, color the head with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends, color the neck in, Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends, color the wing in Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends, color the underneath of the rooster in Light Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends, color the tailfeathers in Light and Dark Bermuda Bay and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends, and then used the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to color the ground underneath the rooster. This piece is then cut out with the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

Before adhering the Wood Textures DSP, stamp the sentiment from Butterfly Gala in Bermuda Bay ink:

Adhere the Flax Ribbon across the middle of the cardstock (Tear Tape works best), adhere the layered circles together, and then use dimensionals to adhere on top of the Flax Ribbon:

This completed piece is adhered to a Bermuda Bay cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

The inside is a 4” x 5 ¼” of Whisper White cardstock, the sentiment from Butterfly Gala and the wheat stamp are stamped in Bermuda Bay ink. To fill in the background of the wheat, second generation stamp:

Wasn’t that a quick and easy thank you card?? Don’t be afraid to use colors outside of your norm and you can always use a piece of printer paper to practice! That’s what I did with the rooster because I wasn’t quite sure how or which colors to use.
