Hello and welcome to today’s card that I CASE’d from the Annual Catalog using the High Tide stamp set! I know we get all excited about new products from the Annual Catalog and with the Holiday Catalog right around the corner, I thought about creating a card that has a little of the old (carried over stamp set) and a little new (embossing folder from the Annual Catalog) and what better way to get inspiration and ideas than fromthe Annual Catalog. For me, the word CASE means to Copy And Share Everything and also Copy And Selectively Edit, so I edited this card to create my version. The card on page 153 in the Annual Catalog is made with watercolor paper and colored with the aqua painters and since I’m waiting on my watercolor paper to arrive, I thought I would recreate it with stamping and sponging!
The base layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 3 ½” x 4 ¾”. I placed a mask over the bottom half, at 2 ¾” from the bottom, and used a sponge brayer with Daffodil Delight ink to start creating the sky:
I used the 1 ½” Circle Punch to create a mask for the sun, coloring the sun in with Crushed Curry ink and a sponge dauber. I then used the half circle punch out to mask the sun and created the “sun rays” with the light stamp in Crushed Curry ink. I did have to stamp each ray twice, this was very easy to do since this is a photopolymer stamp set:
I removed the masks and then used the sponge dauber with the leftover Crushed Curry ink to color in a little bit more around the sun. I placed the mask over the sun, leaving the yellow line just slightly showing for better color blending, and then used another sponge brayer with Balmy Blue ink:
I removed that mask layer and then used the wave stamp in Seaside Spray ink, full strength across at the line, and stamping off once across under that. I used the small little reflection line stamp randomly around the bottom in Seaside Spray ink, stamping off once first. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the birds in Gray Granite ink, inking and stamping three times:
Additionally, you will use a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Vellum cardstock embossed with the High Seas 3D embossing folder (a piece of cardstock is underneath so you can see the embossing), enough linen thread to wrap around the stamped cardstock twice and tie into a bow, and stamp the sentiment in Gray Granite ink on Whisper White cardstock, cutting out with the second from the smallest mat die from Stitched Rectangle Dies, tearing the paper along the bottom:
I wrapped the linen thread around the cardstock at the water/sun line twice, tied into a bow, and then adhered the sentiment:
I adhered the cardstock with dimensionals to the Vellum and then placed adhesive behind that to adhere to a Balmy Blue cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, use a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock, used the end of the sand (or ground cover) stamp for the lighthouse in Sahara Sand ink, stamped the birds in Gray Granite ink, and the waves in Seaside Spray ink:
