Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a soft and sweet card featuring the Heart & Home Suite! A fun and easy way to take your cards up a notch is to add layers and texture! Embossing cardstock, die-cuts, ribbon, a doily, and a little coloring with Stampin’ Blends combine and coordinate with the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper. Which, this particular design I wasn’t a fan of, not sure why because it is nice, but sometimes I do get a little “intimidated” with a design. Rather than focusing on the DSP design, I pushed it to the background and focused on what I could add to the card front to make that the focal point. Choosing a color or two from the DSP and then add a couple of coordinating colors really ties the card together and it was so easy!
The base layer is this design from the Heart & Home DSP, which I cut the 12” x 12” sheet into six 4” x 5 ¼” base layers and six ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card. The second layer is Pale Papaya cardstock cut at 4 ¼” x 3” and embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. One Misty Moonlight Heart & Home Doily.
2. Enough of the Denim Ribbon to tie into a small bow.
3. On Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp the flower stamp in Smoky Slate ink, color in the stems and leaves in Light Soft Sea Foam, the flower petals in Light Pale Papaya, and the flower centers with an SU800 (From the Medium Light Natural Tones) Stampin’ Blends. This is die-cut out with the coordinating die.
4. I used three of the leaf dies from Flowers of Home to die-cut out of Vellum cardstock.
I first adhered the embossed cardstock in the middle of the DSP base layer, adhered the doily in the middle of the embossed cardstock, adhered the vellum die-cut leaves to the back of the die-cut flower and adhered this to the middle of the doily, and then used glue dots to adhere the ribbon as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Cinnamon Cider cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”:
For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP along the bottom, and I made this card a birthday card, so the sentiment is stamped in Misty Moonlight ink:
For the coordinating envelope, I used the bumblebee stamp from Garden Wishes to stamp three times in Misty Moonlight ink:
An absolutely wonderful card for any occasion! You can add a small sentiment to the card front if you like or leave as is for six cards ready to go! Looking back at the 2022 JJ Mini Catalog, I think the Honeybee Home Bundle coordinates with this particular design from the DSP, which of course I do not have. But hey, I was able to still make a card using the Blessings of Home Bundle!
