Designer Series Paper need not apply!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is an easy card that is super quick to make with Stampin’ Up! embossing folders! This card not only features the new 2021-2023 In Colors, but it also features the new Animal Print, Bark, and the Checks & Dots embossing folders. All you need is your favorite sentiment stamp set, which I used the Happy Thoughts stamp set from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog, add a couple of your favorite embellishments, and you have a card that you can send out “just because”!

For the base layer for the card front you will need:

1. A 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

2. Pale Papaya cardstock cut at ¾” x 5 ¼” and emboss with the Animal Print embossing folder.

2. Fresh Freesia cardstock cut at ¾” x 5 3/8” and embossed with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder*.

3. Polished Pink cardstock cut at ¾” x 5 ¼” and embossed with the dot embossing folder from Checks & Dots.

4. Soft Succulent cardstock cut at ¾” x 5 3/8” and embossed with the Bark 3D embossing folder*.

5. Evening Evergreen cardstock cut at ¾” x 5 ¼” and embossed with the check embossing folder from the Checks & Dots.

*the Painted Texture and Bark embossing folders “shrink” the cardstock slightly, so having the cardstock longer ensures that it will fit and you will only have to trim off a little bit of excess off the end when you adhere the strip to the Very Vanilla cardstock base layer.

I used liquid glue to adhere the cardstock strips to the base layer, first starting with Pale Papaya and Evening Evergreen at each end:

Then I adhered the three additional strips as shown, with just a little gap between colors:

To finish up the front of the card, cut two strips of the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon at about 4” to 4 ¼”, the sentiment is stamped in Polished Pink ink, die-cut out the sentiment with the stitched shape from the Tasteful Labels Dies, and place two 3mm and one 4mm Basic Rhinestone Jewels as shown:

I used Seal+ to adhere the two pieces of ribbon as shown, used dimensionals to adhere the die-cut sentiment over the ribbon, and this completed piece is adhered to a Thick Very Vanilla cardstock card base:

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the inside sentiment in Soft Succulent ink:

Isn’t this a great card for when you want to not use designer series paper?? There are so many possibilities to make this card so many different ways, change up the colors of cardstocks and embossing folders used! While this is also a fun way to use up your strips/scraps of cardstock, I actually cut a full piece of cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” (or 5 3/8”), embossed the cardstock, and then cut down into ¾” strips, which you can easily make five cards from!
