Hello and welcome to today’s card, which start’s off the week of birthday cards from the So Much Happy Bundle! If you missed this bundle, you can find it on page 45 in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog! This stamp set and die bundle comes with everything you need to make super cute cards, but I thought I would spend the week making more of “masculine themed” birthday cards since I know that we (as in crafters and card makers) are always on the lookout for cards for the men in our lives!
I made the base layer by cutting a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamping the birthday stamp in Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point inks using my Stamparatus and the (side) hinge-step technique. I first started with stamping the sentiment in the upper left corner with Pacific Point ink and worked my way down, positioning the stamp underneath that and stamping in Granny Apple Green ink working my way down, and then I continued this process with the next two columns in Pacific Point and Granny Apple Green inks. For me, this worked best and I was able to position the sentiment stamp easily so each column would line up with the next:
You will then cut at ½” from the bottom and then cut again at 1 1/8”:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. I used a 2” x 6” piece of Real Red cardstock for the “happy” die and that is because I wasn’t sure where I was going to position the die cut cardstock. Since it is positioned in the middle, you can use a 2” x 4 ½” and just trim off the excess after adhering.
2. I applied a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Silver Foil Sheet to cut out: three balloon ties, the small triple star, and three stars from the dies.
3. I applied a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the star balloon in Pacific Point ink, the large solid balloon in Granny Apple Green ink, and the small striped balloon in Real Red ink, using the coordinating dies to cut out.
To adhere the piece of stamped base layer so it is positioned evenly behind the die cut, I positioned the upper half cardstock on the Granny Apple Green cardstock card base (cut at 4” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”), used a clear block to keep it in place, and then used liquid glue to adhere the 1 1/8” piece to the card base:
I used liquid glue to adhere the stamped base layer pieces to the Real Red cardstock die cut and used the card base as a guide to position as evenly as possible, trimming off the excess Real Red cardstock:
I removed the adhesive backing from the balloons to adhere the ties to the back, for the smaller balloon I trimmed some of the foil sheet tie down so it would be shorter, removed the adhesive backing for the three small stars to adhere to the Granny Apple Green balloon (use either your fingertips or your Take Your Pick Tool as they are very small), and then adhered all the pieces as shown:
I cut four strips from the Foam Adhesive Strips and applied them to the back of the base layer, since I wanted this piece to be popped up, these are easier to use rather than a bunch of dimensionals:
Finally, this is adhered to the card base:
For the inside, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, the word “happy” is stamped in Pacific Point ink, the large balloon and “to celebrate you” is stamped in Granny Apple Green ink, the small striped balloon is stamped in Real Red ink, and the stars and balloon ties are stamped in Smoky Slate ink:
Isn’t this a super cute and fun card?? This would be perfect for an adolescent boy birthday and if you have the A Grand Kid stamp set, you use this card for your grandson! The layout of this card is also perfect use to make multiples of, just change the colors!
