Fun birthday card with Twinkle Twinkle DSP!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features products from the Twinkle Twinkle Suite in the Annual Catalog! This really is a super cute suite to have on hand to make a baby themed card, but let’s face it, how many baby cards are you going to make over the course of the year? Exactly! However, don’t bypass this suite by (especially if you do not have products to make a baby themed card or just simply want to update your stash), because you can use it for so much more! So today I thought I would show you how to make a super cute and easy birthday card by adding some birthday sentiments!

For this card, you will start with a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½” for the card base:

fullsizeoutput_3072

I used the same sheet of the DSP, cut one piece at 4” x 5 ¼” and the other piece at 2 ½” x 4”. I flagged the end by using my Paper Snips:

fullsizeoutput_3075

For the rest of the card front, you will need some Silver and Whisper White Baker’s Twine, the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous is stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out using one of the dies from the Stitched Labels Framelits, the moon and stars are punched out of Silver Foil Sheets using the Twinkle Builder Punch, and heat emboss the heart stamp from the Little Twinkle stamp set in Silver Emboss Powder:

fullsizeoutput_3078

To assemble the front, adhere the banner DSP to the base layer DSP, adhere the moon and biggest star with Mini Dimensionals, use the Take Your Pick tool and the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the rest of the punched foil paper, wrap the Silver and Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the DSP twice, adhering the ends to the back of the DSP, and then adhere the sentiment piece on top of the baker’s twine with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_307b

This piece is then adhered to the card base with dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_307e

For the inside, the Whisper White cardstock is cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous is stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink, the background star stamp is in Pool Party ink, and the single star stamp is in Night of Navy ink:

fullsizeoutput_3081

Isn’t this a great alternative to using up this Designer Series Paper? It is so easy to just cut up this paper and then combine it together to create a totally different card! More use out of your stamps and DSP!

Emboss resist & Brusho!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is my little experiment with emboss resist on watercolor paper and Brusho. If you don’t know what Brusho is, it is watercolor ink crystals that are highly pigmented and Stampin’ Up! offers them in 5 colors that come in small pots. These crystals are more like a fine dust, which makes it easy to get everywhere, and I recommend that you only poke one small hole in the top and keep a thumb tack in the hole until ready for use. There are different ways to create watercolor washes with Brusho, but today I am showing you how I created this watercolor wash by sprinkling the Brusho color onto Watercolor Paper and spritzing with water and I love the end result!

fullsizeoutput_3006

To start, I use a piece of Watercolor Paper, cut at 3” x 5”, and heat emboss the flower and leaf from the Beautiful Promenade stamp set in Clear Embossing Powder:

fullsizeoutput_2fe5

I gently sprinkled the Brilliant Red, Gamboge, and Yellow over the flowers and then sprinkled Yellow and Moss Green over the leaves:

fullsizeoutput_2fe8

Next, I used my Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water and spritzed until I achieved the desired result. If you missed a spot or want to add more of a color, you can sprinkle more on as well:

fullsizeoutput_2feb

I used a paper towel to soak up some of the excess water and also lightly dried the embossed edges of the flowers and leaves. If you notice, there is a slight blue color, which is from the Prussian Blue pot, and I didn’t even take this pot out of the box! LOL:

fullsizeoutput_2fee

After comparing different color cardstock for the base, I decided to use Mossy Meadow, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2ff1

I really liked how the watercolor paper design looked on my bamboo cutting board (this was just a random one I had and decided to use this for any Brusho projects. This especially helps protect my work space when I’m spritzing water), so I found this design from the Wood Textures 6” x 6” DSP and trimmed it to 4” x 5 ¼”. I used this edgelit die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies along the top and bottom of the DSP:

fullsizeoutput_2ff4

Adding a bit of ribbon wouldn’t be too much, so I used the Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon. I thought this coordinated nicely with the colors:

fullsizeoutput_2ff7

To assemble the card front, I tied the ribbon around the DSP and then adhered the watercolor paper to the DSP. (Note-make sure that the watercolor paper is completely dried and use a strong adhesive, like Tear & Tape, Liquid Glue, or Fast Fuse) I then used dimensionals to adhere the base layer to the card base:

fullsizeoutput_2ffa

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Very Vanilla cardstock, the sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink, and the leaves from Beautiful Promenade are stamped in Mossy Meadow. The first stamp is in full ink and then immediate stamp again, which is also referred to second generation stamping:

fullsizeoutput_2ffd

Brusho is really a great medium to play with! If you want to apply the color directly to the paper, simply mix a little bit of Brusho with water (on a clear block or small container) and then use a paintbrush to apply. Try experimenting with the colors by combining them to create a totally different color! Using watercolor paper or thick cardstock works best, especially if you are spritzing water on and protect your work space by either using a cutting board or having something else underneath for excess water and any runaway color crystals!!

Quick and easy masculine birthday card

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a quick and easy masculine themed birthday card featuring the Buffalo Check Background stamp and the Winter Woods stamp set! It’s always hard this time of year to make birthday cards when you are in the midst of your Christmas crafting, so I thought I would take a couple of popular stamp sets from the Holiday Catalog to make this card!

You will start with a card base in Early Espresso cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_2f1c

The base layer is Soft Suede cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and is stamped in Early Espresso ink with the Buffalo Check Background stamp:

fullsizeoutput_2f1f

The additional elements for the front of the card is a 6” piece of Copper Trim, the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous is heat embossed in Copper Emboss Powder on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out with the smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits, use the second smallest layering oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the Copper Glimmer Paper, cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 3” x 3 ¾” and use the birch tree trunk stamp from Winter Woods stamp set in Early Espresso ink. I used my Stamparatus and the “hinge-step” technique for this and used my white watercolor pencil to slightly color the trunks so they stood out a little more on the cardstock:

fullsizeoutput_2f22

To assemble the card front, adhere the Crumb Cake cardstock to the Soft Suede base layer, adhere the Copper Trim across the bottom of the Crumb Cake cardstock, use liquid glue to adhere the layering ovals together, and then use a dimensional to adhere. TIP-I used Glue Dots to secure the trim to the front and back of the cardstock.:

fullsizeoutput_2f28fullsizeoutput_2f25

For the inside, the sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and is heat embossed in Copper Emboss Powder. The pinecones are from Winter Woods and are stamped in Early Espresso ink:

fullsizeoutput_2f2b

Wasn’t that quick and easy? It’s always fun to combine different stamps to create a great card! Have you been thinking about getting the Buffalo Check or Winter Woods sets? Then you will be happy to know that both of these sets are going to be carried over into the 2019 Occasions Catalog, along with a few other goodies from the 2018 Holiday Catalog! Yay!!

Fun and easy Birthday card!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and easy birthday card made with the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies. In case you have overlooked the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, it also coordinates with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, the Classic Label Punch, and the Happy Birthday Thinlits Dies! Having so many options with a stamp set makes it super easy to create with!

Before I created this card, I first started with the Brights 6” x 6” DSP, decided to use the Melon Mambo striped paper, chose my color combination, and went from there!

You will start with a card base in Smoky Slate cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2caa

The base layer is Powder Pink cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Striped Scallops TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2cad

For the front of the card, you will first cut 1 ½” piece from the 6” x 6” DSP (it will be 1 ½” x 6”) and then cut the remaining 4 ½” x 6 at 3”, so you will then have to pieces measuring 3” x 4 ½”. You will use a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and Smokey Slate cardstock for the Celebrate Thinlit and use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two pieces together, sliding it slightly so the Smokey Slate cardstock is showing underneath. For the balloons, I used the balloon stamp from the set to stamp in Smokey Slate and Powder Pink inks on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched out. The bigger balloon is punched out of a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Slate and Melon Mambo inks on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out with the Classic Label Punch. For the balloon ribbon, I used some Silver and Whisper White Baker’s Twine that I tied in a knot:

fullsizeoutput_2cb0

To assemble the front, I adhered the DSP to the embossed base layer and then adhered to the card base. I cut Mini Dimensionals in half to adhere the Celebrate on the DSP and then used Dimensionals for the balloons and sentiments:

fullsizeoutput_2cb3

The inside sentiment is stamped in Smoky Slate ink and the flowers are stamped in Powder Pink, Melon Mambo, and Granny Apple Green inks. I cut the 1 ½” piece of DSP in half (¾” x 6”), adhered along the bottom, and then trimmed the excess off:

fullsizeoutput_2cb6

Wasn’t that fun and easy?? I just love it when a seemingly “complicated” card is easy to make and with these instructions you can make two cards at once!

Birthday card with bling!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun birthday card with lots of bling! Rose Glimmer Paper, Rose Metallic Thread, and Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems are the perfect elements to make any card shine! This is also a great way to use any scraps of DSP that you may have or to make multiples just cut a 2” strip of DSP and then cut that down into 2” x 2” squares.

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock, cut to 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2c76

The base layer is this design from the Petal Promenade DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_2c79

For the card front, you will need some Petal Pink Metallic Rhinestones, Rose Metallic Thread, a 2” x 2” piece of Petal Promenade DSP, use the fourth largest scalloped square from the Layering Squares Framelits, and stamp the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Crumb Cake ink, punching out with the Classic Label Punch. Tip-You can always use the fifth largest square from the Layering Squares Framelits instead, the glimmer paper will cover that up:

fullsizeoutput_2c7c

To assemble the front, use liquid glue to adhere the DSP to the glimmer paper and adhere the sentiment with Mini Dimensionals. I wrapped the metallic thread several times around the base layer, placing some adhesive on the back to keep the ends in place:

fullsizeoutput_2c7ffullsizeoutput_2c82

The base layer is adhered to the card base, the layered squares are adhered with dimensionals, and then I added one of each shape of the rhinestone gems:

fullsizeoutput_2c85

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White cardstock and stamped in Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake inks, which are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set:

fullsizeoutput_2c88

Another fun and easy card that your recipient will surely love! One more helpful tip, if you are mailing this card, I place a piece of printer paper over the front to help the envelope and card from being damaged in the mailing process!

Quick and easy card with Happy Birthday Thinlits

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a quick and easy birthday card made with the Happy Birthday Thinlits! This card is quick and easy to make, whether you are pressed for time and need to make a card or are replenishing your birthday card stock! After realizing that I really only have two birthday stamp sets (that are current), it was time to take a look at what I wanted to purchase. I really wanted a stamp set that was versatile, had some fun sentiments, and was easy to create with. After what seemed like hours of agonizing search (total exaggeration, but when you are trying to decide and narrow sets down it does seem like it, lol), I decided on Happy Birthday Gorgeous, the coordinating Happy Birthday Thinlit, and Birthday Backgrounds. If you missed this stamp set, like I did, you should really take a second look! I’ve made several cards with this set now and I just love it! Since I already have the Balloon Bouquet and Classic Label punches, that just made this stamp set even better in my book because the punches also coordinate with the stamp set. More bang for your buck, right??

When creating today’s card, I decided to use the Petal Promenade DSP because of all the beautiful flowers and when you combine this with the Tufted Dynamic TIEF, and rose-colored bling, you get a stunning card!!

The card base is Petal Pink cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. The base layer is Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Tufted Dynamic TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_2c6a

For the front of the card, I cut a piece of the Petal Promenade DSP at 2” x 4”, some Rose Metallic Thread, and used the Happy Birthday Thinlit to cut out of the Rose Glimmer Paper. TIP-I cut a piece of the Sizzix Adhesive sheet and adhered to the back of the glimmer paper before cutting out with the thinlit. This makes it much easier to adhere, unless you are using dimensionals:

fullsizeoutput_2c6d

To put the front of the card together, I adhered the base layer to the card base, put some adhesive on the back of the DSP for the Rose Metallic Thread and then adhered this to the embossed base layer. I adhered the glimmer paper sentiment on top of the DSP (just peeled the backing off and voila!) and then added a couple of the Petal Pink Rhinestone Jewels:

fullsizeoutput_2c70

The inside sentiment is on a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Very Vanilla cardstock, the sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous is stamped in Blushing Bride ink and the flower from Beautiful Promenade stamp sets are stamped in Petal Pink ink:

fullsizeoutput_2c73

So simple and easy, yet a stunning birthday card that your recipient will surely enjoy!
