Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and easy way to use up your Glossy Cardstock! Do you struggle with ideas to use Glossy Cardstock or maybe it’s hidden away and forgotten about? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Lol Stampin’ Up! brought back Glossy Cardstock for a minute (or the current Annual Catalog) and I was so excited because I figured this would give me a chance to use it up! Well, that was an epic fail because the cardstock still sat on the shelf feeling unloved and going unused!! This brings me to today’s card and my fond farewell to this cardstock by creating a background using sponge brayers and ink pads.
I thought the colored cardstock would go perfectly with the Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper layered on top, so I chose colors that would coordinate with the Petal Pink side of the paper. Cut a piece of the Glossy Cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and then use a sponge brayer to first color Blushing Bride ink along the bottom, Flirty Flamingo ink in the middle, and then Melon Mambo ink along the top. One sponge brayer was used for each color:
I used this edgelit die from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits, lining it up along the 5 ¼” side of the cardstock, I used a sticky note to keep it in place, ran the cardstock and die through the Big Shot, and then repeated the process for the other side:
To create the butterflies, I used my template for the Butterfly Duet Punch and used sponge daubers to color the middle Blushing Bride, then Flirty Flamingo ink, and then Melon Mambo ink on the outside. I then stamped the butterfly stamp in memento ink, placed the template back on top, and then stamped the body in memento ink. You will also need this design from the laser-cut paper and the sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the smallest oval Stitched Shapes Framelits:
The laser-cut paper is adhered to the glossy cardstock by using my Fine Tip Glue Pen, the sentiment is adhered with a dimensional, and the butterflies are adhered with a mini dimensional:
This completed piece is then adhered to a Melon Mambo cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:
For the inside, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, used the flower and butterfly stamp from Beauty Abounds in memento ink, colored in with a blender pen using Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Melon Mambo ink:
Easy background to make with Glossy Cardstock! I even could have used it for the butterflies and sentiment! Just goes to show you that even I automatically go to regular cardstock instead of the glossy! If you do not have the laser-cut paper, you can also just stamp the butterflies directly on to the Glossy Cardstock! The Glossy Cardstock and Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper will not be carrying over to the next Annual Catalog, so they will only be available while supplies last.
