Abstract Impressions Easel Card

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun and easy easel card featuring the Abstract Impressions Suite! Making an easel card is a fun way to change things up from your typical card and who doesn’t love to make a fun fold card? I also thought I would change up the vellum cardstock by coloring it with a sponge brayer before I used the butterfly die!

To create the card base, I used Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½” and at 2 ¾”. I also cut another piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 4 ¼” x 5 ½”, which will be your card front layer:

I used this design from the Garden Impression DSP, first cutting 1 ½” off one side (which I cut in half at ¾”) and then turned the DSP to the 6” side and cut that in half at 3”. This will give you two pieces measuring 3” x 4 ½” and two pieces measuring ¾” x 6”:

I cut a piece of Powder Pink cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and embossed it with the Garden Trellis TIEF. I cut a piece of Vellum cardstock at 3 ½” x 4”, colored it with Powder Pink ink and a Sponge Brayer:

For the rest of the card front, you will need one piece of the DSP, a piece of Shaded Spruce ribbon (from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack) long enough to go across the DSP (about 4”), stamp the sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White cardstock, punching this out with the Everyday Label Punch and punch a piece out of the Silver Foil sheet (cut this in half to layer underneath the sentiment), and then use the butterfly die on the colored Vellum cardstock:

I first adhered the ribbon across the DSP, layered the Silver Foil sheet underneath the stamped sentiment, and this is adhered with dimensionals:

I used three of the 4mm Pearl Basic Jewels on the body of the butterfly and then placed Glue Dots underneath the pearls to adhere the butterfly to the DSP:

This is then adhered to the embossed cardstock and then this is adhered to the base layer:

To adhere the completed card front piece to the card front, burnish the card front at the score lines and then place adhesive on the bottom scored half. Here is a side view of the card:

For the inside sentiment, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and then adhere the ¾” strip of DSP along the bottom, trimming off any excess. The sentiment is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White cardstock, cut out with the smallest Layering Ovals Framelit, and then layered on a piece of Silver Foil sheet, which is cut out with the smallest scalloped Layering Ovals Framelit. The sentiment pieces is adhered just above the DSP with dimensionals, which will keep the card front in place, creating the easel:

Wasn’t this a fun card to make? You could actually make two cards at the same time since the DSP is cut for two cards. If you like the DSP, ribbon, embossing folder, or the Powder Pink ink and cardstock, you will want to order this now since they are all on the retirement list and are only available while supplies last thru June 3rd. The Abstract Impression stamp set and Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies are going to carry over to the new annual catalog, but the discounted bundle price will not and will have to be purchased separately.

Create a daisy birthday card

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a fun daisy birthday card using the new Daisy Lane stamp set! Since the birth flower for the month of April, I thought this card would be perfect not only for a birthday card, but to also give you a little sneak peek at the new Daisy Lane stamp set! If you are familiar with the Daisy Delight stamp set, the Daisy Lane set is completely different. Not only is the stamp set a cling stamp set (Daisy Delight is a photopolymer), but the whole style is different. However, it does coordinate with the Daisy Punch, but it also coordinates with a new Medium Daisy Punch! I did receive the Daisy Lane stamp set at OnStage, but unfortunately, we are not able to order the Medium Daisy Punch right now, so fingers crossed it will be orderable next month when demonstrators can preorder select products from the Annual Catalog before it goes live on June 4th! I’m mixing it up for today’s card, which includes products from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.

The base layer is Soft Sea Foam cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and embossed with the Basket Weave TIEF:

The next layer is this design from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” DSP. I first cut 1 ½” off one end and then cut this piece in half so you will have two pieces at ¾” x 6”. For the 4 ½” x 6” piece, cut this piece at 3” along the 6” side, which will give you two pieces at 3” x 4 ½”:

For the rest of the card front, I used the Happy , Birthday thinlit on a piece of Gold Foil Sheet, stamped the stem in Granny Apple Green on Whisper White cardstock and “fussy cut” out, stamped the large daisy on Whisper White cardstock in Versamark, heat embossed in White Emboss Powder, used a sponge dauber to color in with Daffodil Delight ink, and then used the Daisy Punch to punch out the embossed image and punching out two additional pieces in Daffodil Delight and Whisper White cardstock. **I used Sizzix Adhesive sheet on the back of the Gold Foil before cutting:

To layer the daisy pieces together, I used liquid glue to adhere the Whisper White to the Daffodil Delight, and then adhered the embossed daisy to the Whisper White cardstock. Each layer is slightly off, so when all three pieces are adhered, you can see them peeking out. I then used the largest Gold Faceted Gem in the center:

To assemble the card, cut a piece of So Saffron cardstock at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, score at 4 ¼”, adhere the embossed cardstock, and then adhere the DSP:

For the die cut sentiment, I found it easier to adhere this piece first before the daisy pieces, which I used the edge of the embossed cardstock as a guide. I used Sizzix Adhesive Sheet as my adhesive for this, but you can use liquid glue:

I used glue dots to adhere the stem, only on the right side, which will be on the DSP, and also used glue dots to adhere the daisy flower to the DSP. **If you notice the petals are slightly up versus completely flat, I used the large stylus end of my Take Your Pick tool around the center of the daisy towards the petals, with my pierce mat underneath:

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Incredible Like You stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink on a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock and then adhered the ¾” x 6” piece of DSP along the bottom, snipping off the excess:

Doesn’t this card just make you think of Spring?? The basket weave, the daisy, or the light and soft colors used, this card is sure to brighten someone’s birthday!

If the Happy Birthday thinlit, Sizzix Adhesive Sheets, or the Garden Impressions DSP is on your list, better order it soon as both of these items are on the retirement list and are only available while supplies last!

Bright and cheerful with Country Home

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is a bright and cheerful card made with the Country Home stamp set! I will admit this stamp set has been sitting on my shelf neglected since making my Thanksgiving cards. So, when I brought out my pack of Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper and chose at random a piece to make a card with, I thought this would be perfect! Then layer this on a piece of cardstock embossed with the Tin Tile DTIEF, you give the stamp and embossing folder a whole new look!

I first started with this design from the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” DSP, first cutting a 1 ½” strip off one end and then cutting this in half at ¾”. Then turn the DSP so 6” side is at the top and cut at 3”. This will give you two 3” x 4 ½” and two ¾” pieces, which you can make two cards from cutting the DSP this way, and this is my absolute favorite way to cut 6” x 6” DSP:

I cut a piece of Mango Melody cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼” and embossed it with the Tin Tile DTIEF for the base layer:

For the rest of the card front, you will need enough Braided Linen Trim to tie into a bow and the tin can stamp. This is stamped in Memento ink on a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. I first colored around the edge of the can in Dark Night of Navy and then colored the handles in Light Night of Navy and blended this in with the outline towards the middle of the can. Next, I colored in the middle of the can with Light Mango Melody and then blended Light and Dark Balmy Blue around the edge of the Mango Melody and Night of Navy. Then to give this a lighter and weathered look, I used the brush tip of the Color Lifter over the Mango Melody and Balmy Blue inks. The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White cardstock, fussy cut out, colored with Light Smoky Slate, used the brush tip of the Color Lifter, and then adhered to the can. This is then cut out with the second smallest Stitched Rectangle Framelit. TIP-using Thick Whisper White with multiple Stampin’ Blends helps prevent the colors from bleeding outside the stamp image and also making sure the cardstock dries inbetween coloring, which you can use your Heat Tool to help with this:

Adhere the DSP to the embossed base layer, tie the Braided Linen Trim into a bow around this piece, and then adhere the stamped piece with dimensionals. This completed piece is then adhered to a Night of Navy cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

The inside sentiment is on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼” in Night of Navy ink and the ¾” piece of DSP is adhered along the bottom, trimming off the excess:

I love how Night of Navy and Mango Melody really make the colors pop on this card! The Country Home stamp set really has some great sentiments and this is a great way to repurpose a holiday stamp set! So get out those sets and see what you can create with them!!

Birthday shaker card!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the new Amazing Life Bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalog! What’s amazing about this bundle?? The Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies of course! lol But seriously, these dies make making a “shaker card” an absolute breeze! With the layering circle, square, and oval dies, you had to line up two of the dies (and hope and pray they don’t move) in order to complete the “frame”. Now with the rectangle dies, they do it in one easy step!

The dies feature stitching on the inside and outside of the frame, so when you are done, you have two pieces that feature the stitching! As you can see, there are 13 dies and they layer together beautifully. The possibilities with this set are enormous!

To create today’s card, start with a card base in So Saffron cardstock,
4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”:

The base layer is Soft Sea Foam cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ½” and is embossed with the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, which I inked up first with Soft Sea Foam ink:

The next layer is this design from the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″ DSP, cut at 4 ½” x 3″:

To create the frame for the shaker card, I cut a piece of Powder Pink cardstock, cut at 2 ¼”  x 3 5/8″, and I used the 3rd smallest rectangle die to cut out the middle:

For the rest of the card, you will need a piece of Window sheet and Whisper White cardstock (cut at 2 ¼” x 3 5/8″), the sentiment from Amazing Life stamp set stamped in Powder Pink ink, Iridescent Sequins, and 2 small and 2 large balloons cut out of Champagne Foil sheet with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, tying Whisper White Bakers Twine around the bottom of the balloon:

To create the shaker part of the card, I first glued the window sheet to the frame using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I also glued a couple of the sequins to the stamped cardstock with the Fine Tip Glue Pen and the Take Your Pick tool:

I used the Foam Adhesive Strips around the edge of the frame and then placed some of the sequins in the middle:

I removed the backing off the foam strips and placed the stamped cardstock image on top:

To assemble the front of the card, I adhered the base layer to the card base and then adhered the the DSP on top at a slight angle:

The shaker piece is then adhered on top, I recommend a strong adhesive:

I then adhered two of the balloons to the front, one to the frame and the other with a dimensional:

For the inside sentiment, use a piece of 4” x 5 ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock, the cake is stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink, the sentiment is in Powder Pink ink, and the bottom image is stamped in So Saffron ink. I adhered the two remaining balloons to the side:

Wasn’t that way easier to make than before? If you have never made a shaker card before because you found it just too difficult, give these dies a try! Just simply cut a piece of cardstock, that is going to be the frame, slightly larger so you have enough room for the foam strips. Wondering how I got the baker’s twine so curly? I simply used my bone folder, just like you would so for curling ribbon with a pair of scissors!

Mixing up Designer Series Paper!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is combining the Garden Impressions and the Brights 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper! This is a great quick and easy card to make, the only stamping is the sentiment on the front! I will admit that creating this card was a “happy accident”, I was trying to decide which of the two DSP’s to use, so, I just started playing around and thought the Mango Melody 6” x 6” DSP went perfectly with this flower design from Garden Impressions. To top it off, I was able to make an alternative card and use almost every bit of paper! Win-win!!

To create this card, you will start off with the card base in Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”

fullsizeoutput_251f

Each of the Designer Series Papers are cut exactly the same: cut ¾” off one side ( 5 ¼” x 6”), then along the 6” side, cut at 2”. This will give you ¾” x 6”, 2” x 5 ¼”, and 4” x 5 ¼”:

The dragonflies are from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits are cut out using the Gold Glimmer Paper and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings on Whisper White cardstock in Mango Melody ink, cut out with the Stitched Labels Framelits:

To put the card together, I adhered the 2” x 5 ¼” Garden Impressions DSP to the 4” x 5 ¼” Brights DSP, adhered the sentiment, used mini dimensionals to adhere the dragonflies, and added some Gold Metallic Pearls to the center of the flowers:

The remaining ¾” x 6” of Garden Impressions DSP is adhered to the bottom of the inside of the card, trimming off the extra from the end:

How easy was that?? While this card uses the striped design, my alternative below uses the other side of the Mango Melody DSP, which is the dot design. I did change it up and used the bee thinlit from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit Dies from the Black Foil Sheets, from the 2018 Holiday Catalog!
