Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is the start of my week of 3D projects! Since I am done with making my Halloween cards, I thought it would be fun to spend the week showing you some simple and easy ways to package those Halloween goodies! My first project will show you how to make a pouch using designer series paper and my second project will show you how to “dress up” those super cute Mini Pizza Boxes!
I really wanted to create some sort of cute treat holder using up my DSP and I thought of the simplest way possible with a 6” x 12” piece of DSP with a cute little flap that you can use either ribbon (which I used) or if you have any of those Velcro dots, those would work too!
First cut a piece of DSP in half, 6” x 12”, score at 2” and 7” along the 12” side, and ½” and 5 ½” along the 6” side:
You will first want to trim off the ½” x 2” piece of scored DSP to create your flap and then burnish the rest of the DSP score lines:
I placed a piece of Tear & Tape as shown, removed the backing, and folded over the DSP so the two ½” scored pieces are adhered together:
I used the corner rounder from the Detailed Trio Punch on each corner of the flap:
For the decoration, you will need:
1. About 15” of the Metallic Mesh Ribbon.
2. Use the largest cut-out die from Halloween Magic Dies on Basic Black cardstock and then emboss with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder.
3. Use the detailed border stamp from Hallows Night Magic to stamp in Memento ink on Cajun Craze Cardstock and cut out with the coordinating die. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment from Hallows Night Magic in Memento ink.
4. Place two of the 4mm Iridescent Pearls as shown.
To help with placement and to keep the ribbon in place, I first loosely tied the ribbon and then placed two dimensionals to keep the ribbon in place:
I removed the backing from the dimensionals and placed the layered sentiment piece on top. When you are ready, you can fill with candy or other treats and then tie the ribbon into a bow:
The next easy treat holder uses the Mini Pizza Boxes from the Annual Catalog, which come in White or Gold. I decided to decorate the outside of the box with some stamping and DSP. I used this design from the Magic in this Night DSP, cutting two pieces at 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” (for the top and bottom lids) and three pieces at ¾” x 3 ¼” (for three of the four sides):
I didn’t really like the look of DSP across the front side, so I used the small bat stamp from Everything Essential in Memento ink:
I used liquid glue to adhere the pieces of DSP along the sides, top, and bottom:
To decorate the top:
1. Cut a 10” piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon, tie into a big bow.
2. Use the Everyday Label Punch to punch out of Whisper White cardstock. I used my Stamparatus to line up the pumpkin stamp from Everything Essential in Memento ink, colored in the pumpkin with Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends and colored the outside of the pumpkin with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.
3. Stamp the sentiment from Hallows Night Magic on Cajun Craze cardstock in Memento ink and punch out with the Classic Label Punch.
4. Use the third largest layering die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out of Basic Black cardstock.
You will adhere the pumpkin punched out piece on top of the Basic Black die cut piece and then adhere the sentiment across the bottom. This piece is adhered to the lid of the box at an angle and then use a glue dot to adhere the mesh ribbon bow:
Just to give you an idea, here are two pieces of candy in the box, but you can easily add one or two more pieces of candy, or a cookie or two (wrapped in something else first):
Aren’t these super fun and easy treat holders?? You can easily adjust the pouch treat holder down to 4” x 12”, but still score the same, and make three from one 12” x 12” DSP! Decorating the Mini Pizza Boxes with DSP is another great way to use up scraps of DSP! I thought about sponge coloring the box, but this was my last box and since I’ve never colored one, I didn’t want to take the chance that it didn’t turn out! These will definitely be on my next order!
