Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is my final card this week featuring the Basic Borders Dies with the Dandy Garden Suite! I did not start out this week with the intention of sharing three different card tutorials, however, when I finished my last card on Wednesday, I still had two ¾” x 6” strips of the Dandy Garden DSP! After struggling to figure out some way to use up these last two pieces, I not only used the supplies I had in front of me, but I decided that keeping it simple was best! Do you see those adorable Bumblebee Trinkets? They finally came back in stock last week (mine were on backorder), so I added these adorable embellishments!
The base layer is the Gold Metallic Specialty Paper, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, and I used the zig-zag Basic Borders Die along the 5 ¼” sides:
To create the “faux” layering, I used the zig-zag die along the long sides of the ¾” x 6” strips of DSP and the 3” x 6” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock:
Using liquid glue, I first adhered the strips of DSP to the gold metallic paper and then adhered the Misty Moonlight cardstock, making sure the zig-zags lined up. Then you can use your trimmer or paper snips to trim off the excess DSP and cardstock off of the ends:
The large flower stamp from Dragonfly Garden is heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder in the middle of the Misty Moonlight cardstock, this completed piece is adhered to a Misty Moonlight cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, and then use glue dots to adhere the three Bumblebee Trinkets as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink and the butterflies stamp in Bumblebee ink, stamping off on a scrap paper first:
How simple was this card to make?? Aren’t those Bumblebee Trinkets so adorable? Do you remember the Honey Bee stamp set, coordinating dies, and DSP from last year’s Occasion Catalog? These would be perfect with them! I still do have all of these and I might just bring them all back out to show you a fun little card to make for every one that still has them! We will see!
