Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which continues from Monday’s post featuring the Dragonfly Garden Bundle, Dandy Garden DSP, and the Basic Borders Dies! When I created Monday’s card, I used all four sheets of the one design to create four cards, however, this left me with four pieces each measuring 2” x 5 ¼” and ¾” x 6”. So, why not create a quick and easy card (or two) with the 2” x 5 ¼” pieces of DSP and the new Gold & Rose Gold 6” x 6” Metallic Specialty Paper? Can we talk about this metallic specialty paper for a minute?? If glimmer paper and brushed metallic paper were to be combined, you would have the Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper! While I just love this new metallic paper, I do wish it came in the 12” x 12” size.
For the base layer, I used two of the 2” x 5 ¼” pieces of DSP, the bottom half is one design that I heat embossed the sentiment from Dragonfly Garden with Black Embossing Powder, used the opposite design for the top half, and cut a ¾” x 5 ¼” piece of the Gold Metallic Specialty Paper. For the top half DSP and gold metallic paper, I used the Basic Borders Die design shown to die-cut right along one edge:
Using liquid glue, I first adhered the bottom DSP piece to a Misty Moonlight cardstock card base (cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”), adhered the die-cut gold metallic paper right along the top of the DSP, and then adhered the top DSP over the gold metallic paper and to the cardstock card base:
For the dragonflies, stamp the dragonfly shown in Memento ink on Vellum cardstock two times and since the ink takes a bit to dry, I used my Heat Tool to completely dry the ink. I used my Light Mossy Meadow and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends on the backside of the vellum to color in the wings (to make the colors darker, I did this twice to each wing after the ink dried), punch out with the coordinating Dragonflies Punch, and then punch out two more dragonflies from Very Vanilla cardstock, which will be adhered to the back of the vellum cardstock. The punched out dragonflies are adhered to the card front with mini dimensionals and then I added three of the Gilded Gems, one of each size, as shown:
For the inside of the card, cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink, and adhere one of the ¾” x 6” strips along the bottom:
How easy was this card to make?? I just love how using the Very Vanilla cardstock behind the vellum not only makes the colors on the wings pop, it also makes it easy to adhere without worrying about hiding the adhesive you use! While I used left-over DSP for the card front, you can easily CASE this design with any DSP by simply cutting a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of DSP in half along the 4” side!
