Mixing up Designer Series Paper!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is combining the Garden Impressions and the Brights 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper! This is a great quick and easy card to make, the only stamping is the sentiment on the front! I will admit that creating this card was a “happy accident”, I was trying to decide which of the two DSP’s to use, so, I just started playing around and thought the Mango Melody 6” x 6” DSP went perfectly with this flower design from Garden Impressions. To top it off, I was able to make an alternative card and use almost every bit of paper! Win-win!!

To create this card, you will start off with the card base in Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”

fullsizeoutput_251f

Each of the Designer Series Papers are cut exactly the same: cut ¾” off one side ( 5 ¼” x 6”), then along the 6” side, cut at 2”. This will give you ¾” x 6”, 2” x 5 ¼”, and 4” x 5 ¼”:

The dragonflies are from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits are cut out using the Gold Glimmer Paper and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings on Whisper White cardstock in Mango Melody ink, cut out with the Stitched Labels Framelits:

To put the card together, I adhered the 2” x 5 ¼” Garden Impressions DSP to the 4” x 5 ¼” Brights DSP, adhered the sentiment, used mini dimensionals to adhere the dragonflies, and added some Gold Metallic Pearls to the center of the flowers:

fullsizeoutput_2528

The remaining ¾” x 6” of Garden Impressions DSP is adhered to the bottom of the inside of the card, trimming off the extra from the end:

How easy was that?? While this card uses the striped design, my alternative below uses the other side of the Mango Melody DSP, which is the dot design. I did change it up and used the bee thinlit from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit Dies from the Black Foil Sheets, from the 2018 Holiday Catalog!

Just add words-Part 2

Hello and welcome to today’s cards, which feature the Garden Impressions 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies! This is two cards made from one sheet of the DSP that is very quick and easy to make! This is another great way to have cards readily available and all you need to do is add words for the occasion!

The card bases are Mint Macaron cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and So Saffron cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”:

fullsizeoutput_23d2fullsizeoutput_23cf

The base layers are Mango Melody, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, embossed with the Basket Weave DTIEF and Shaded Spruce cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, embossed with the Climbing Vine TIEF:

fullsizeoutput_23d8

This DSP design was cut into 4 pieces, 2 pieces at 3” x 4 ½”, and 2 pieces at ¾” x 6”:

fullsizeoutput_23d5

I used the smaller Detailed Dragon Thinlit to cut out one in Gold Glimmer and one in Silver Glimmer Papers:

fullsizeoutput_23db

A piece of the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon is tied in a bow around the DSP and then adhered to the base layer. For the Shaded Spruce base, I used the debossed side of the paper:

This piece is then adhered to the card base, the dragonfly is adhered with Mini Dimensionals, and then I added either Rhinestone Basic Jewels or Share What You Love Artisan Pearls in So Saffron:

fullsizeoutput_23e4fullsizeoutput_23f0

For the inside, I trimmed down the ¾” DSP to 5 ¼” and adhered to the bottom of the Whisper White cardstock. The dragonfly is then stamped in So Saffron and Mint Macaron inks and then brushed with Wink of Stella:

Seriously, how easy was that?? If you don’t have the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, you can always use another detailed die in its place! It’s so fun to just create cards to have on hand!

To a special friend

Hello and welcome to today’s card, featuring another faux Stained-Glass technique! This time I used Whisper White cardstock, Sponge Daubers, Ink Pads, and Embossing Powder. I experimented with both of the dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies to show that you can use either one and I did not know how I was going to create this card until the pieces where complete.

To start, I used a 4 ½” x 4 ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock, which will give enough room to color and emboss. I used Sponge Daubers to color the cardstock first with Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, and Pineapple Punch inks. As I colored, I would place the die on top to make sure that I was inking the paper enough:

After coloring with the Sponge Daubers, then emboss the paper with the dies using the Big Shot Embossing Mats:

fullsizeoutput_2162

Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to 4 ½” x 4 ½” and then adhere together. Place both of the dies on the non-adhesive side and cut out with the Big Shot. After this is complete, I used the Versamark stamp pad directly on the dragonflies and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder:

For the embossed dragonfly images, I also used the Versamark stamp pad directly on the paper and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, two times. Then fussy cut the dragonflies out of the paper:

fullsizeoutput_216e

Remove the backing from the gold embossed dragonflies and adhere to the clear embossed dragonflies. Tip-if you find some parts that aren’t sticking together, simply use your Fine Tip Glue Pen:

Here is a close-up image:

The card base is Early Espresso cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”. The front of the card is then embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:

fullsizeoutput_2177

The base layer is from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, cut at 3 ½” x 4 ¾:

fullsizeoutput_217a

The front sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. This is then cut out with a die from the Lakeside Framelits Dies:

fullsizeoutput_217d

The DSP is adhered to the card base with Snail, I decided to use the bigger dragonfly, which is adhered with Mini Dimensionals, put some Snail on the back of the sentiment to adhere some Gold Metallic Thread, and used Mini Dimensionals to adhere to the card front:

fullsizeoutput_2180fullsizeoutput_2183

The inside sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamped in Early Espresso ink. I cut a piece of the DSP that was used on the card front to ½” x 5 ¼” and adhered along the bottom:

This week I have shown you three different ways to achieve the same technique, I hope you’ve enjoyed this! Which way is your favorite and which way would you choose to try? Even if you don’t have any of the detailed dies that I’ve shown, but have a different one, give it a try!

Mother’s Day Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Stamp It Group Mother’s Day Blog Hop and giveaway for April! I’m so excited to be participating in another blog hop with such a talented group of ladies!

fullsizeoutput_1a16

When I started out to create this card, I wanted to keep up with the “challenge myself” theme that I’ve been doing by using up products that are on the retirement list! We have to make room for the new products that are getting ready to come out in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, right?? So, I chose to use the Painted with Love Designer Series Paper and created from that!

The card base is Rich Razzleberry cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_19d5

The base layer is Painted with Love DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:

fullsizeoutput_19d8

The next layer is Whisper White cardstock, cut at 3” x 4 ½”:

fullsizeoutput_19db

I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to stamp the background images in Powder Pink and Blushing Bride inks on the Whisper White cardstock layer:

fullsizeoutput_19de

I used the Letters for You stamp set to stamp MOM in Rich Razzleberry ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the coordinating Large Letter Framelits:

fullsizeoutput_19e1

The dragonflies are cut out on Gold Foil Sheet using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies and I snipped the top and bottom dragonflies off. The middle part is adhered to the Whisper White base with glue dots and then the letters are adhered on top with dimensionals:

Using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set on a ½” piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the letters and image in Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo inks, trimming the ends with the Banner Triple Punch:

fullsizeoutput_19e7

To put the card together, adhere the base layer to the card base, adhere the Whisper White cardstock on top of this, use Mini Dimensionals to adhere the two dragonflies that I snipped off and the little sentiment:

fullsizeoutput_19f0

The inside sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, and Powder Pink inks:

fullsizeoutput_19f3

I love how this card turned out and hope this inspires you to “challenge yourself” when you make not just your Mother’s Day cards, but all cards!

It’s Springtime!

Hello and welcome to day 2 of this week’s Sale-A-Bration countdown! Since spring is right around the corner, or at least according to the calendar (lol), I wanted to create something bright and cheerful and the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP, some Pear Pizzazz, and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits has created this beautiful card!

The card base is Pear Pizzazz cardstock, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the base layer is from Springtime Foils Designer DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”.

I first started with a Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker and colored in the leaves on the DSP. (Whether it’s a Stampin’ Write Marker or a Stampin’ Blends, they both work wonderfully with this DSP!) The smaller detailed dragonfly thinlit was used on a piece of Silver Foil paper and then the coordinating outline thinlit was used on a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock, with just the body of the two pieces glued together so the wings can be spread apart.

The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set, stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in Silver Embossing Powder on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. This is then cut out using the 2nd smallest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I placed some Snail on the back to adhere the Silver Metallic Thread you see poking out from behind.

The DSP is adhered to the card base, the sentiment is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the dragonfly is adhered with two Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, one for the middle of the body and once cut in half for the head and tail.

fullsizeoutput_15dffullsizeoutput_15e0

Looking for a cheerful card? This is it! Looking for a quick and easy card? This is it! You could always change the sentiment up, use a punch instead of a thinlit, or even just cut a piece of cardstock!

Please contact me if you have any questions about the products used on this or any other project. I hope you enjoyed this card and thanks for stopping by!

Valentine’s Day part 2

Welcome to part two of my three-part series featuring Valentine’s Day Cards! Each blog post will feature two cards giving alternative ideas featuring some current and some retired Stampin’ Up! products and even some Paper Pumpkin. Don’t worry if you do not have a retired product that is used, you can easily swap it out for what you have on hand or for something that is current.

This first card was CASE from Linda Cullen from her Coffee & Crafts Facebook Live Class and you can see her card here. Now, I do not have the Hexagon Dynamics Embossing Folder, but I knew I had something that I could easily substitute.

The card base is in Thick Whisper White card stock cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and the base layer is in Whisper White card stock cut at 4” x 5 ¼”. You will also need some scrap Whisper White, Vellum, and Basic Black card stock.

Starting with the Whisper White card stock base layer, use the 3rd largest curvy heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelit Dies, place about 2/3 up, and run thru the Big Shot. On the scrap piece of Whisper White card stock, stamp the detailed bee in Memento ink twice from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, then use the detailed be thinlit from the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to cut them out, and use the same thinlit again on the scrap piece of Vellum card stock. The bee image on the Whisper White card stock is then colored in using the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends marker and the vellum piece is then adhered using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. Since I do not have the Hexagon Embossing Folder, I used a piece of DSP from the Love Blossoms DSP Stack (retired), which was cut at 3” x 3”, and then I placed Stampin Dimensionals on each corner on the back and around the heart on the back of the Whisper White card stock, adhering the piece of DSP. Using the scrap piece of Basic Black card stock, cut at ½’ x 3”, stamp the letters from the Labeler Alphabet set in VersMark and heat emboss in White Embossing Powder, trimming the end with the Banner Triple Punch, and then place a small amount of Snail Adhesive on the front to adhere to the inside of the heart, towards the bottom, and then some on the back to secure placement. I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to place the bee’s around the heart, added a piece of Rose Red Grosgrain Ribbon (yeah, really retired!) around the bottom and then adhered to the card base.

For this second card, I wanted to create something not typical for a Valentine’s Day card and This Little Piggy came to mind. I thought the Hogs & Kisses and the lips stamps would be cute to use!

The card base is in Pool Party cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, and the base layer is from the Sending Love DSP stack (retired) cut at 5 ¼” x 4”. On Whisper White card stock, stamp the Hogs & Kisses stamp in Memento ink and then use the 2nd largest curvy heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to cut out. Then color in using the Light Old Olive, Light Pink Pirouette, Dark Pink Pirouette, Light Smoky Slate, and Light Pool Party. The lips are stamped in Real Red ink and the cloud image is stamped in Pool Party ink. Using the leftover heart image from the card above (see what I did here??), stamp the lips in Real Red randomly around and then adhere both hearts to the DSP base layer. The Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine is wrapped around three times, tying into a bow, and then I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to give it some bling before adhering to the card base. The inside sentiment is stamped in Real Red and Pool Party inks from the This Little Piggy and the Adoring Arrows stamp sets.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the products used on this or any other project. I hope you enjoyed this card and thanks for stopping by!
