Hello and welcome to today’s card, which is another fun Christmas card made with the Wrapped in Plaid DSP! On Monday, I shared with you some of my thoughts and tips regarding 6” x 6” and how to get the most out it for your cards. Today’s card will show you how I used one design of DSP to make one card, which if you use all four sheets you will make four cards, and only have a small scrap of DSP to discard, or keep, that is up to you!
In last year’s Holiday Catalog, the Dashing Deer stamp set and coordinating Detailed Deer Dies were a huge hit with crafters, so I thought I would show you how to make a fun and simple card with this stamp set and DSP from this year’s Holiday Catalog. This design coordinates perfectly (to me at least) with the stamp set and dies, but you could really use this set for any of the designs from the DSP. My first cut of this DSP is along the bottom at ¾”, this is to make sure that the deer design is going the right way as this will be adhered to the inside of the card. Turn the DSP 90 degrees and cut at 4”. This will give you one piece at ¾” x 6”, one piece at 4” x 5 ¼” (the base layer), and one piece at 2” x 5 ¼” (layered on top of the base layer):
For the card front you will need:
1. Use the deer die to cut a piece out of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
2. Tie a piece of the Gold Shimmer Ribbon into a small bow.
3. Use the smallest Stitched Rectangles layering die to cut out a piece in Shaded Spruce cardstock and stamp the sentiment in Golden Glitz ink. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment, I found that you have to stamp an image more than once to get a nice image and use your heat tool to dry the ink completely.
To assemble the front:
1.Adhere the smaller strip of DSP to the middle of the base layer DSP.
2. Adhere the deer to the middle strip of DSP and use glue dots to adhere the ribbon to the lower portion of the deer’s neck.
3. Adhere the sentiment with dimensionals.
This completed base layer is adhered to a Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, and scored at 5 ½”. I added three of the 4mm Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to the deer antlers:
For the inside, I again used my Stamparatus to stamp the inside sentiments, in case I needed to stamp the accent stamp again in the gold and stamp the sentiment more than once in Cherry Cobbler ink so you can see it thru the gold ink. The ¾” x 6” piece of DSP is adhered along the bottom of the cardstock, trimming off the excess:
Isn’t this a fun and quick Christmas card to make? If you did not want to use the 2” strip of DSP as another layer, you can easily combine it with another 2” strip design and use a piece of ribbon to cover the middle where the two pieces meet, giving you another four cards! Even though these cuts for the DSP are simple, you can easily dress up the card with die cuts and embellishments, there’s no limit to the possibilities!!
