Create a “weathered wood” background for Beach Happy!

Hello and welcome to today’s card, which features the Beach Happy stamp set with a “weathered wood” background created with the Crackle Paint background stamp, Pinewood Planks DTIEF, sponging, and some distressing. Creating this background piece was really an experiment that I’ve been wanting to try with the Crackle Paint stamp and Pinewood Planks embossing folder, I thought that combing the two would give the background just a little bit more depth than just embossing the cardstock. This was very easy to create and I thought pairing it with the Beach Happy stamp set would be perfect!

This piece is going to be the base layer for the card, which you will start with a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Very Vanilla cardstock and stamp the Crackle Paint stamp in Gray Granite ink:

The next step you will emboss the cardstock with the Pinewood Planks DTIEF and then sponge Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Gray Granite inks until you achieve the desired coloring:

I then used my scissors (one of the blades) to distress each side of the cardstock and then sponged more Gray Granite ink on each side:

For the palm tree image, I first cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the third smallest Rectangle Stitched Framelits. Starting at the bottom, I sponged Sahara Sand ink, then Pool Party ink, and then Balmy Blue ink. I then stamped the palm tree in Garden Green and Crumb Cake inks:

You will need the palm tree image, a 4” piece of Burlap Ribbon (I “pulled” at the ends to give it a worn look), and then stamp the sentiment in Mango Melody ink on a piece of Pineapple Punch cardstock, punching out with the 1 1/8” Scallop Punch:

Use Tear & Tape to adhere the Burlap Ribbon to the base layer, use a small amount of Snail in the corner to adhere the sentiment to the palm tree piece, and then use dimensionals to adhere to the base layer:

This is then adhered to a Crumb Cake cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”:

For the inside, use a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, sponge Sahara Sand and Coastal Cabana ink in the bottom left corner (made to look like sand and water), and then stamp the palm tree in Crumb Cake and Garden Green inks:

How fun was that?? With all this crazy winter weather going on, I’m sure there is someone you could send this to and warm their heart!! Lol I left out an inside sentiment so this could be ready for any occasion!

Wondering what specials are going on?? Current specials are listed to the right!!
