Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which kicks off the new January – June 2022 Mini Catalog with products from the Heart & Home Suite!! I don’t know about you, but I am ready to have some fun with this new mini catalog! While my wish list was quite long, I was able to narrow it down to products that I just had to have. As with every new year I don’t make resolutions, but rather reflect on ways I would like to improve, not just creatively. This really made my narrow down my list and change how I order, starting off with a few products, keeping a list of what is left, and then placing another order later. But I will get into that after I share how I made this beautiful card from the Heart & Home Suite with the coordinating envelope!
The base layer is this design from the Heart & Home 12” x 12” DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Use the third largest Layering Diorama die to die-cut from Vellum cardstock and then emboss with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.
2. On Cinnamon Cider cardstock, stamp the large flower stamp in Versamark ink, heat emboss with White Embossing Powder, and die-cut out with the coordinating die. I then use a Whisper White Watercolor Pencil to give the image a little bit more depth.
3. Cut a ¾” x 4” strip of the same base layer design but use the opposite design side.
4. Cut a 5” piece of the Denim Ribbon, folding over to make a loop, use a glue dot to keep in place, and snip the ribbon tails as shown.
5. Cut a ¾” strip of Pale Papaya cardstock, use your Stamparatus to stamp part of the sentiment on the cardstock, using a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker to ink (or you can mask over the “for love” and use a Basic Gray stamp pad), and trim down the ends. I used my Stamparatus so I could stamp the sentiment several times to get a nice, crisp stamped image.
6. You will need two small and one large Basic Gray Classic Matte Dots, not shown.
First, adhere the die-cut flower piece over the embossed vellum cardstock as shown and use a glue dot to adhere the ribbon to the back of the sentiment. Then you will adhere the ¾” x 4” strip of DSP across the middle of the DSP base layer, adhere the layered die-cut piece over the middle, and then use dimensionals to adhere the sentiment. This is adhered to a Pale Papaya cardstock card base, cut at 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”, and place the matte dots as shown:
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment and the same flower stamp from the card front along the bottom in Basic Gray ink, stamping the flower stamp along the bottom in first generation and then second generation slightly higher:
For the coordinating envelope, stamp the other flower stamp in Basic Gray ink and use a blender pen with Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, and Garden Green inks to partially color in, like the base layer design:
Here is my first attempt for this card, the only difference is that I used Heat & Stick powder with Gilded Leafing. It’s ok, I just like the white embossed image more:
Now onto my reflection of the last year! Like I stated before, I look at ways that I can do better for the next year, which always seems to be time management and organization. I don’t know about you, but I just seemed to get behind and stay behind the second half of 2021. But then again, I did have a lot going on: a wedding, adopted a puppy, family vacation, completely redecorated my bedroom (my husband and I upgraded our bed, so it was time), and had new flooring installed in my living, dining, and family rooms. All of this was from July thru November, so I don’t think time management was the issue because that was a lot. However, when I was finally finished with products from the July – December Mini Catalog and cleaned up my craft room (there is a difference between pick up and clean up) and decided to so a little organization, I realized how much DSP and embellishments I really have that sadly retired before I could completely use! Sad Face!! That’s when I decided it was time for a change when I order and how much I order. So, I whittle my list down for the new 2022 mini catalog down because it’s time for Quality vs Quantity, and by that, I mean I will still share products with you that I love, but I will scale it down. I feel this will not only give me the opportunity to really spend time creating inspiration and use more products versus concentrating on using up DSP but neglecting ribbon and other embellishments. This will also give me the opportunity to use up my retired products offline, which I plan to donate to different charities. Believe it or not, I did start that project last year, but it soon fell to the wayside when things at home got a little hectic. Don’t get me wrong because if anything, my retired products are more than a testament to how much I love Stampin’ Up!, I’m just going to plan better and really use what I have with all the new stuff! While you will see projects for Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, you won’t see any blog posts for Valentine’s Day because I will use what I already have for my personal cards, but maybe I will share that inspiration on my Facebook page!
