Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a festive fun fold card featuring products from the Painted Christmas Suite! Not only is this card easy to make but is also a great way to easily use up your DSP making multiples of this card! Since we are coming down to “crunch time” to get cards and gifts out, I thought this would be a great time to show a beautiful card that is so easy to make, and you can get it right out into the mail!
The card base is a sheet of the Real Red cardstock, cut into two 5 ½” x 8 ½” pieces and scored at 4 ¼”:
The base layers is this design from the Painted Christmas DSP, you will need three pieces cut at 4” x 5 ¼”, two layers will use this design and one will use the opposite side design:
For the card, you will need:
1. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment from Christmas to Remember in Real Red ink and die-cut out with the middle layering Seasonal Labels Die.
2. On Basic White cardstock, stamp the two-step leaf stamp first in Soft Sea Foam ink and the second in Pear Pizzazz ink. Stamp the holly berry stem in Pear Pizzazz ink, the holly berries in Real Red ink, and then stamp the holly berries again (separately) in Real Red ink.
3. Use all three sets of the pinecone dies, the outline in Crumb Cake cardstock and the detail in Early Espresso cardstock, placing some adhesive sheet on the back first.
4. For the ribbon, I used enough Old Olive/Pretty Peacock reversable ribbon folding over to make a “faux double bow” and used a reversable tweezer to hold it in place while I tied a piece of Metallic Mesh Ribbon into a bow in the middle of the folded ribbon.
5. You will need one of the Real Red and two of the Old Olive Matte Decorative Dots, not pictured.
For the first card base, I used a small line of liquid glue along the top of the DSP and along the bottom quarter to adhere to the cardstock. I used the largest layering Seasonal Labels Dies towards the top of the DSP to die-cut out the DSP and cardstock. You will use opposite side the DSP die-cut for your sentiment, so place that back in the negative to make sure you are using the die-cut in the right position (if you use the wrong position, the layering die-cut will not fit correctly and the front flap will not close like it should, which I made this mistake) and adhere the die-cut sentiment:
You will adhere the back of the right card base to the inside of the left card base, not quite all the way to the score line. Adhere the same DSP design as the card front to the inside flap:
Close the front flap and use dimensionals to adhere the layered die-cut sentiment in the negative place. For the rest of the card front, adhere the die-cut pinecones, ribbon, and matte dots as shown:
For the inside of the card, adhere the reverse side of the third piece of DSP to the inside right cardstock flap, adhere the die-cut holly leaves and berries as shown, cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment from Christmas to remember in Real Red ink, and cut a ¾” x 4” strip of DSP to adhere along the bottom:
For the coordinating envelope, stamp the pine tree leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink (three times) and the holly berry stamp in Real Red ink:
Isn’t this fun and festive Christmas card so easy to make? If you would like to make multiples of this card, or just use this template for a different occasion, this is what I did to make four cards: I used both sheets of this DSP design, first cutting 1 ½” off one side and then cutting the rest of the sheet into six 4” x 5 ¼” layers, per sheet, which will give you the twelve DSP layers you need for the four cards. After you cut the four ¾” x 4” strips for the inside of the card, this will leave you with one strip measuring 1 ½’ x 12” and one strip measuring 1 ½” x 4”, which you can use for a completely different card!
