Hey, Chick!

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a fun and easy card featuring the Hey Chick Bundle and the Ombre Specialty Paper! With only a week left to snag this super cute bundle, or just the coordinating dies if you have the original stamp set from a previous SAB, it is time to bring them out again before they are gone when they retire! When you combine this bundle with the Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, you can make one cute card (or several!) and they would be perfect for a slim line card! However, today I wanted to show you how well the Hey Chick Bundle can make a quick card and use the Ombre Specialty Paper as a special “wow” factor!

For the base layer, use the Mango Melody sheet from the Ombre Specialty Paper, cutting a 4” x 5 ¼” piece from the dark end of the paper:

For the card front, you will need:

1. Spritzing a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with water, use the fence die to die-cut five pieces.

2. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of Garden Green cardstock, spritz with water, use the cornstalk die to die-cut out two pieces, and the four cornhusk dies to die-cut eight pieces.

3. Place some adhesive sheet on the back of Bumblebee cardstock, spritz with water, and use the four corn ear dies to die-cut out eight pieces.

4. Use the two-egg die to die-cut from Very Vanilla cardstock.

5. Stamp the egg with legs stamp on Very Vanilla cardstock two times in Early Espresso ink, color in the legs with Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends, and use the Ivory Stampin’ Blends along the inside of the left side and blend/lighten with the Color Lifter (I did this to give the stamped image some depth). These are both die-cut out with the coordinating die.

6. Stamp the hen on Very Vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso ink, color the beak and feet with Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends, the comb in Light Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends, head, wing, and tail in Ivory Stampin’ Blends, and the body in Light and Dark Cinnamon Cider and Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.

For the fence, I cut one of the die-cuts in half, used liquid glue to adhere two towards the top and two towards the bottom, adhered the two cut pieces at the ends, and trimmed off any excess:

The adhesive backing is removed to assemble the cornstalks, the first one is adhered as shown with the two eggs below, the second cornstalk is adhered with one of the eggs with legs behind a leaf (like it’s hiding), with the other egg with legs and hen adhered as shown. This completed piece is adhered to a Crumb Cake cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½”, and scored at 4 ¼”:

For the inside, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment and chicken in Early Espresso ink, color in the chicken with Light and Dark Poppy Parade, Light and Dark Cinnamon Cider, Light Pumpkin Pie, Ivory, and Bronze Stampin’ Blends:

How cute is this card?? Can you just imagine what the momma hen is saying to that little egg hiding in the cornstalk?? I just love how using the Ombre Specialty Paper adds that “wow” factor to the card without taking away from the die-cut images!
