Hello and welcome to today’s blog post, which is a bright and cheerful birthday card featuring the Charming Sentiments Bundle! The Charming Sentiments stamp set is a great sentiment set for a variety of occasions and the coordinating Sentiment Silhouettes Dies can die-cut each of those sentiments out, but there are also some cute accents dies that you can also use! This is great for when you want to make a super cute card with die-cutting, just choose your colors! I really like the Starry Sky and Parakeet Party color combination, so to keep up with those bright and cheerful colors, I added Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight. This card is intended for a little boy how is about to have a birthday and this is perfect for him!
For the card front, the base layer is this design from the 2022-2024 In Color 6” x 6” DSP, cut at 4” x 5 ¼”:
For the rest of the card front, you will need:
1. Use the largest circle Stylish Shapes Die to die-cut from Basic White cardstock.
2. You will need enough of the Starry Sky Baker’s Twine (2022-2024 In Colors Baker’s Twine Pack) to tie into a crisscross around the base layer DSP.
3. Using both candle dies, die-cut two of each from Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Starry Sky, and Parakeet Party cardstocks.
4. Using the flame die, die-cut eight pieces from the Distressed Gold 12” x 12” Specialty Paper.
5. Heat emboss the sentiment with White Embossing Powder on Starry Sky cardstock and use the coordinating die to die-cut out.
I first adhered the die-cut candle layers with liquid glue, using different colors for the top and bottom layer, and liquid glue to adhere the flame die-cut, using the putty end of my Take Your Pick to pick them up and place them with the top facing different directions (kind of like a moving flame if you will). The candles are then adhered to the die-cut circle with liquid glue as shown and the die-cut sentiment is adhered with mini dimensionals to the die-cut circle to complete the centerpiece of the card front. I placed some Seal+ on the back of the DSP base layer to adhere the ends of the baker’s twine as I crisscrossed it around the front, adhered the DSP base layer to a Starry Sky cardstock card base, cut at 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”, placed dimensionals around the middle of the baker’s twine (to help keep the baker’s twin in place), and then placed the die-cut circle in the middle:
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 4” x 5 ¼”, stamp the sentiment in Starry Sky ink, and then I used the star stamp from Alphabet to stamp around the sentiment in Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, and Parakeet Party inks:
For the coordinating Basic White Medium Envelope, I used the star stamp again to stamp in the bottom corner with Starry Sky, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, and Parakeet Party inks:
Such an adorable birthday card!! If you don’t have any stamp sets for children’s cards, this bundle is perfect! I chose bright colors for a little boy and those eight candles-it’s for his eighth birthday! You can use any four color combination and die-cut how many candles your need!! As an afterthought, I could have personalized this with the Alphabest stamp set and coordinating Best Label Punch for his name and use the numbers to stamp on the DSP! Which means I’m going to go back and try and see if I can make that work, lol!
